OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Seems rather meager following a lovely Rolleiflex, but I'm very pleased
The viewing lens is a little dusty but the taking lens looks to be in excellent shape and the rest of the camera seems very nice, bar the shutter button which seems to have lost it's springiness a bit (I expect the spring is a little gummed up), but it's still perfectly functional. Even came with an original case, a yellow filter and a "Heidosmat - Rolleinar 2" close up lens set which I wasn't expecting.
Yes, that is a Canon EOS digital strap on it, it's the only one I've got spare at the moment. Please forgive me :naughty:

For a Bay 1 Rolleinar 2 set, with both parts, you should be able to get £20 if it is in good condition and you can find a buyer. The shutter button has no spring, it pushes against the lever from the shutter itself to fire so if that is a little gummy I would be a little bit worried - it could indicate that the Copal shutter needs some work.

Looking good. Seems like a good buy. Have fun.
If you want to use a cable release you'll be well advised to use a Nikon AR2. There aren't many that fit.(you have to remove the knurled ring on the shutter to connect it)

The shutter seems to be firing fine at all speeds, the button doesn't feel sticky or anything, it's just a little less forceful on the pop back up than I might have expected. Do you think it's very likely to indicate a problem?

Edit: --- UPDATE ---
I noticed there was a bit of grease on the tube of the actual button itself, so I gently cleaned it and rotated it a few times and it's moving a lot smoother already.

As a repairman once said to me, impossible to say unless it is in parts in front of me. It should pop back up instantly though... could just be that grease preventing smooth movement around that area I guess.

It is popping up nicely now, I'll just have to hope that is the issue solved.
Must admit I had a bit of a moment when I tested the shutter. I opened the back and watched through the lens as I fired the shutter at different speeds and my heart sank as I didn't see the flash of light I was expecting
After about a minute I realized I'd left the lens cap on :bonk:

I collected my new toy from the sorting office this morning, took it to work with a couple of lenses and a few film holders. I managed to take 4x Rollei IR images (the first time I have ever used InfraRed).

Will process them tomorrow evening when there is no fozzball on.

That is a thing of beauty. But let's face it, you are not going to give up until you can do A1 size contact prints, are you?

Absolutely beautiful Ed, what is it?

A big thank you to my very generous brother for letting me have your other Yashika Mat.. I love it :D

Only six more shots to go on my first roll :)

Cheers Trevor...

Gorgeous!.....Looks to have been very well looked after. .....I'm tipping that originally it will have had a rotating brass tripod plate on it's base.....would you be kind enough to show a pic of what adaptation has been made to attach the camera to a modern tripod plate.

The Yashica Mats seem to be reproducing in droves! :D

There is one that has just come on Collectable Cameras for £59 - only defect is that the WLF is a bit stiff, but realistically it doesn't sound like much of a problem.

Mmmm, can't see that one mate. Has it sold already?

Not sure about A1  but if the right price 8x10 adapter comes along for my Horseman I may well have a dabble.

It is a Mk1 Nagaoka 4x5 field camera, I was hoping that it would have been a Mk2 before it arrived.

Yes, it's in very nice condition. There is a square plate on the base with a 1/4" tripod hole next to the makers 'name plate' both look like original items, I will post an image of the base up later.

Thanks Ed.....Could do with a plate like that with the 1/4" tripod hole to adapt the base of one of my cameras.....anyone know where I could pick one up??

My latest new toy (RZ67) purchased from Danny that arrived half an hour ago....very very pleased with it.....itching to get out and try it out just as soon as I've studied all i need to know about how to operate it.......looks to be straight forward enough though.

^ I bet that garden table was straight until you put the RB on it, now it's leaning towards me :D

A film related toy for me - well, an upgrade for one anyway. I've long wanted to change the focusing screen on my Rolleiflex, it is quite badly scratched and generally not that great to use. A little vignetting as well, which is not always handy for composition of the full 6x6.

I wanted an option that was a good replacement, but without costing the crazy amounts that are asked for the Maxwell screens, so I bought one from Rick Oleson - link here for anyone interested. Took a week from ordering to being fitted in my TLR, shipping included in the price! It's a little bit brighter, and the split image helps a lot for close focusing. Comms with Rick were also very good, quick and informative - the internet seems to be in agreement about that, other fora talk about this as well.

Highly recommended for people looking for a focusing screen replacement.

I actually have one of these for my Rolleicord but couldn't get on with it. If anyone is local to me and would like to try before they buy, they're welcome to come over and try the screen out in their (compatible) camera to see if they'd like to get one. It certainly does give a brighter image in the viewfinder, it was just my inability to get on with the split image that made me take it out. I may give it another go in a few months for some still life stuff using the Rolleinar.

Do you just not get on with split image full stop, or just the one on these screens? It blacks out quite easily when viewed at waist level, but Rick Oleson does say in his instructions it is meant to be used with one eye and with the pop up magnifier for critical focus. Works very well with that.

My Rolleiflex T already has a split screen in it and I want shot of it, shame Rick doesn't do screens without! I just want a plain old screen (but nice and bright!) for mine.

:) It's a total weight of about 8 lbs...gulp

LOL......My mrs who often helps me carry gear has not long got in from work and seen my new toy (RZ) and her first words were...." I aint carrying that for ya"!:D
