Not for film :p

It has to be tethered to the image bank which is in effect a 40GB hard drive with a Sony L series battery on it for single shot 22MP 49mm x 37mm images, but it has to be tethered to a computer if you want to use the multishot (4x images, 128MB image) and microshot (16x images, 528MB image) ) but these only work on static subjects.

I managed to find a secondhand CF adapter which allows me to use all my V series lenses on the H series body, it cost me £499 which I thought was a bargain as new it costs £972.

Got home to discover a FedEx parcel arrived today, containing my latest 'in a moment of weakness' purchase from eBay when I spotted it about three minutes before the auction was up.

A Canon F1 (not 'n') with a spares-or-repair power winder F attached. £58 delivered. :)

First impressions are encouraging. Shutter fires and it sounds right for the speeds. It's a little dusty and it's obviously been used, but surprisingly tidy - not much brassing.

I might be on the look out for a base plate and an eye cup.

I guess I'll find out more tomorrow.

Yes, I had my eye on that, but decided not to bother - have bought enough recently. Hope it works fine.

Just to be a smart arse :lol: "Texas Leica" was a reference to the earlier version the GL690 that you could change lens on.

I used a GSW version of one of those cameras and I think they are great.
 
Yeah... i may have just ruined my ST605n by trying to take the top off when i've had no sleep :p

We must learn from our mistakes! What do i buy to replace it? :D

In other news, my cheap eBay T90 came back from a service with Miles Whitehead this morning, complete with a fix for the flashing arrows problem, so I now have a nearly mint working camera. :)

Took it out with some Boots 200 slide at lunch time. Still got to finish the roll, but it is nice to shoot with.

edit: Oh, and an MR9 battery adapter for the F1 was also in the same post, which should ensure the correct voltage for metering.

Pentax Spotmatic SP with Yashinon 50mm f1.4 This is a bit of a nostalgic buy as it was the first SLR I ever used (supplied by the college) although it I'm pretty sure it wasn't with a Yashinon lens.

One for Cedric, a 100% crop from the original file of the ME Super shot above which was 10880 pixels x 8160 pixels, first attempt at a microshot image on the H1D (16 images shot and combined automatically in Hasselblad Flexcolour).

Damnit... i've got the bug. Just when i was starting to think i was immune too ;)

I got in and jumped on ebay, now apparently it's quarter to five in the morning. Hmm.
 
Nothing special for me recently, just a Vivitar 28mm f2.8 for £6. Was so cheap I couldn't pass it up!
 
Likewise here - nothing worth bothering takeing photo's of - a Canon EF 1.4X extender and a set of Jessops EF Auto Extension Tubes.

..and for me a Pentax SMC M 75-150 zoom, with 1A and pentax cap for £4, another nice buy for someone else (I have them) was a Tamron 70-210 46a (good one) with hood and contax/Yashica adapter for £10.

An AV-1 stood me in good stead as my main camera for the best part of 20 years. Rudimentary exposure compensation is its main weakness, but it's a nice, straightforward camera.

You should have fun with the A-1 :)

mothdust, Just catching up here after a couple of days, and I saw your Halina 35X. I bought one in Jersey, in 1966, for the price of £6-0-0d. Back here in the Uk they were £12-, almost double. (New) When I came back I declared it at Customs. His eyes lit up, as me must have been thinking I had bought a Canon, Nikon, etc. and would have some duty to pay. He looked at my Halina, then said, "For being honest you can go through and forget about duty." What it would have been on that would have been a couple of £s possibly.
However, it was the first camera I owned and still have it. It is rudimentary but it turned out some nice sharp, correctly exposed slides, which I still have.Give it a try with a film and you will be surprised at the results. Last year on ebay I had a look for an X35, thinking that mine would now be the only one in existence, and worth at least £250,000 !!! There was one for sale at £18.:eek:

£12! Blimey :) I plan to run some film through it soon, as soon as I can get my hands on a meter, that is. I love how it looks, even if it does weigh a ton. If all else fails, it's good for self-defence ;)
 
Sorry Chris, but I have to say that a EOS-1v / PB-E2 and ES-E1 is pretty much the perfect complement to your 1Diii

Sorry, its a fantastic idea :) I have a 1v its it really is about the pinnacle of film camera technology, problem is it makes my 20D feel cheap, nasty, basic and clunky!

mothdust, When I bought the Halina 35X I did not know what light meters were, or that they existed. I relied on the instructions on the film carton, ie sunny, f16; cloudy bright f8; dull, f4, etc. I cannot recall any slides or negative shots being over/underexposed in daylight. I might have been lucky, but I learned the hard way, I suppose. My next one was a Zenit E, before eventually getting into the field of the 'big lads cameras.' Proper slrs and the like. Got myself a Nikon FM recently at cheap price, because the meter was not responding. Used a light meter and 100% success. However, I have been told to rotate the speed dial, and also the ISO dial frequently, and now there is 'life' appearing in the meter. Some well informed and talented people here have suggested repair solutions, but when I was a kid I could not even change the tyres on my Dinky cars, so I am not going to start dismantling a camera.:lol:
