OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Best thing is, my fiancee bought one too... seriously looking forward to this now!!

Stop....

.... It's Holga-time!!

Yep, I've bitten the bullet and bought a toy camera that takes crap photos.... is it wrong to say I can't wait?

Like a bad movie sometimes it can be so bad it's good ;)

Yer and no mention that it was 5x4 film in the title, it was on £27 30 seconds before it ended :'(

My dad bought one of these with a case today at a charity shop for £2, can anyone ID the model?

Perhaps a 3M? Looks like the UK version on Camerapedia.

Here's my new toy!

That looks awesome ped, what size polaroid film does it shoot? Have you used it yet?

Ooh that looks cool. Can you still get film for it?

Very nice!! I've been looking for a good one of those (or a 250) for a while now but always miss them on eBay

Mart & Liam, they take the Fuji pack film so very much still available

Thanks guys - I bought a 103 a while ago and really enjoyed it. A too kept looking for a 250 or 450 for ages (even considered splurging £££ on a 180 at one point) and finally won this on eBay for about £70!! I was lucky as the auction finished at something like 8am on Sunday. I have some B+W film and some colour film for it. I will post some scanned pics when I have my scanner back

It's been a busy couple of weeks for me, where 35mm film gear is concerned.

First, I picked up a very tidy Nikon FE body (shown here with my Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8, which works really well with it) ...

Then I went looking for a longer lens than either the 50mm or 85mm primes that I already had and got a fairly minty example of the 135mm f/2.8 AI-s to go on it :naughty: ....

And yesterday, my second FE body (an immaculate example, in chrome finish this time) turned up in the post, so I'm all set to go :)!

I love the build quality of this Nikon film equipment - it's like having a poor man's Leica :exit:.

Drool.........

Build quality is excellent and they are so nice to use.

Hi Andy :)!

The Nikon FE (and MF Nikkors) have (temporarily?) taken the place of the rangefinder, which I was lusting after not so very long ago ;). When all's said and done, this body with a 28mm or 50mm prime on is not so much bigger than your average RF and manual focus (using the excellent screens and huge viewfinder) is so much easier to use than I thought it would be, that I don't really feel the need to spend the four figures required for a decent RF and 40/50mm prime :|.

Let's see how my exploits with 35mm go and maybe then I'll re-consider a Leica/Voigtländer :D.

Andy,

I honestly can't decide which camera I like using best out my F3 and Bessa R3A. They both have great build quality are simple to use and produce excellent images....and they both look way cool.

My new toy is a a pair of Yongnuo 460 MKII flashguns I will be using them with gels alongside the Lencarta Safari. This is due to me losing my Jessops 360AFD on Lanzarote.

Build wuality seems pretty good so far. Need to add triggers really as IR is so poor outdoors.

That's encouraging to hear :). Thanks for posting that, you've helped me to quell my desire for a rangefinder :D.

I have another new toy, which has arrived just in time for the weekend :naughty:. Although the camera is also new this week, the exciting new toy featured here is the Tim Isaac "Bug" soft shutter release :) ...

No, it's not just an ornament (and a rather camp one at that ) - it's designed to allow you to trigger the shutter using the middle part of your finger, whilst holding the camera much more firmly (like shooting a target pistol). The makers reckon that it's worth an extra stop. If that's true, it's cheaper than changing all of my lenses to f/1.4 and less grainy than doubling the ASA rating on the film I use :D.

Here's a little more about them, for anyone who's interested ...

Highly recommended, Andy .

I've just come back from shooting 20 or so frames (of b&w ISO 1600 :shake:) with it and I have to say, it felt good :)! Of course, since Mr. Isaac kindly added my photo (from my last post) to his website, I have to say that :D.

Robert White's are the only stockist, to save you looking ;). Unless of course your camera has room for the larger (15mm wide) "Beep" model, in which case you might have more luck in finding one elsewhere.

Sheesh! That looks like it came out of the box!

Lucky b****r, how much?

587quid. Complete with case, both end caps and original lens hood, which are almost impossible to find if if you haven't got one.

Good price.
It is. There's a tiny little scratch on the front element near the edge which is going to be no issue at all, or I suspect it would have gone for a lot more The only other ones at the moment are all foregners, more money, and are going to be an expensive propsition with VAT and import duty added.

I know, CT, it's crazy !

Mintier than a Polo dipped in mouthwash and yet it cost me £50 - what is the world coming to ?

Even the glass that I bought to go with it (28mm f/2.8 AI-s and 135mm f/2.8 AI-s) is bargain-like, in terms of what the modern, plastic (gelded :nono:) versions would cost.

I like film :D!

I can never find any decent cameras in my local charity shops!

I've been doing the rounds of the charity shops in town once every 3-6 weeks for the last year or so.. this is the best find I've had in all this time. Persistence pays off.. as does making yourself known to the old dears who'll keep an eye out for someone with an interest.

I knew you'd have to go back for it, no willpower. :D Looks really nice.

Andy

I couldn't talk myself out of not going back..
