Now I can officially participate in this section of the forum! Finally got a lens for the RZ, and its a brilliant condition 180mm 4.5 W-N. The guy who sold me the camera said he was going to include film, when it checked today, nothing in there, alas, I must wait.

2 rolls of Acros 100 and a roll of T Max 400 bought from 7dayshop, gonna be the longest wait of my life for it to arrive! lol.
 
my Sis-in-law decided repairing her Canon AE-1 in Paris was too expensive - and sent me her FDn lenses.....:clap:

* Sigma Super-Wide 24mm f2.8 - with its 'Perfect' hood
* Canon 135mm f2.8
* Canon 70-150mm

@ Brian - the Perfect hood is a tight spring fit into the grooves - what was the problem with yours rotating, as the front lens doesn't when focusing

Well mine was vignetting on Sigma 24mm, but can't really complain without proof (i.e. is there a different hood for both lenses) as it came off a CZJ 28mm. But the other thing that annoyed me:- was it swung round easily i.e. easily knocked out of position.

If your hood is perfect (pun) for 24mm maybe you could take some measurements so I could file mine down to match yours as I don't want to spend £8-£10 on a Nikon one.
 
John - that 135/f2.8 looks really nice, and i'm definitely interested in seeing some shots from the Sigma 24mm as the Canon UWA originals seem to go for silly money due to the Micro 4/3's crowd and their pesky adaptors.

Sigma shots ....well if you are prepared to wait ...no prob

having breakfast then 11 days straight taxiing over Easter and that 'other thing'..:thinking:

looking at eBay, 3 Sigma 24s have just sold for £65 -79[with hood]....:eek:

think I owe her some roses..:D

the 135 2.8 is the same physical size as the f3.5 [cough...the 135/3.5 is now listed]

I'm never in a hurry when it comes to picking up the right FD kit, John - it took me nearly 9 months to find the 35-105 f3.5 at the right price ;) Having said that, picking up any of the Canon UWA FD's is becoming a bit of a vain hope I reckon - 17mm seems to be £150+, 20mm at least £100, and at least £70 for the 24mm. At those kind of prices, I'll take the EOS-3 and the 17-40L zoom out if I think I'm gonna use wide angles :lol:

Oh - and yes, I reckon you do owe her a bunch of flowers - at the very least ;)

Thank you, but I thought you would try it first to see if it vignettes on your sigma 24mm...doesn't really matter though cos if mine is the same as yours, you will have a warning :thumbs:

Either the hood has moved (which it does easily) or Vignette prob:-

wont be shooting till after the 'wedding weekend' - taxi too busy

tried the Sigma 24mm on my A-1 with a Hoya HMC UV(0) not a slimline UV(C)

the hood does not vignette - but tried your finger test - and admit it is right at the edge so may need a slimline filter [or none at all]

again - the hood is very snug - no rotation

heights are from bottom of shoulder above the threads

top petal
height = 25mm
top width = 26mm
bottom width = 46 [ a straight line across the inside curvature]

Thanks...roughly the same as mine except for the screw shown in first photograph (what does the screw do?).

looking down from above

there is a ribbed spring clip inside about 7mm wide

there is a push-button at 3o/clock and at 9o/clock

at 12o/clock there is a 5mm gap

the spring is located in place at 6o/clock by the screw

so squeezing the buttons decreases the diam of clip [hence the 5mm gap] allowing it to be inserted inside the lens filter thread

if your screw is missing - maybe that's why it rotates...:shrug:

erm mine must be mark I as I have no hole or screw to fit or ribbed spring clip, the only way the hood is held onto the filter thread is just by the two push buttons.

ahh but owning a £10 broken T70 is much healthier lifestyle than smoking 5.5 fags, aaaand your karma levels will go back to normal after you diddled that old granny out of 50p...:D
 
it's a heavy investment. not in money terms. but in weight. if the camera isn't working and the lenses aren't being used/ can't be sold it's mentally hard to throw stuff like this away ! :D

canon 33 on the way + being in between jobs doesn't help . oh God ! I'll probably moan about this one for some time. as the same with konica autoreflex tc , still haven't seen one for decent price, nonetheless that mint with pancake lens I used to have.

there was a new ft1 that didn't fetch the reserve. how is that one Brian ?

strangely enough I didn't miss my canon 500d , apart from some lenses. just felt like an object. on controversy Minolta has a soul.

Well good luck on the jobs front, the economy looks like it's picking up.

The TC pi**ed me off as the metering system doesn't work properly with Tamron or M42 adapters.
The FT1 is nothing special and not very "tough" on the electronics side, I got mine very cheap by a gamble and amalgamating two faulty ones and everything works except flash and the exposure readings in the viewfinder don't show, thus I can't use it in manual mode without a separate exposure meter.

hmmm.. the ft1 looked great . oh ! well , I guess I'll just forget about the konicas. maybe a hexar one day. btw I have a free hexanon 35-70mm in sale thread, if I'm allowed to mention it here.

I'm now gutted and looking for my super dream film camera that I'll never need or would want to sell ! :D

X-700 is superior to a FT1, but I always take my TC with a Canon T70 on holiday.....I just like Hexanon lenses.

Well so would I if I hadn't bought most of my 35mm gear cheap, but I did splash out £60 for a mint T90 and recently £31 for a 100mm f2.8 Fujinon lens....a gamble for me esp splashing out £31 for a lens :eek:, as I'm betting that any well known company that makes a 100mm lens, then it should be a good one....erm we shall see.

I was looking for a 85mm for minolta and realized that a AF canon 85mm is similarly priced. :D

to find lenses for the old cameras sometimes is too big of a quest.

Nice beginners camera at the bootie today..NO it wasn't the Zenit E with Helios lens for £3, but Nikon EM with 50mm f1.8 series E lens for £15..didn't bother to haggle as I've got one.

Well the digital guys are at the big boot sales now as one seller had plenty of well known camera bodies but no lenses :eek: anyway it was just info to inform people that there are still cheap cameras (with lenses) out there, erm but not cheap enough for me this time ;)

I would definitely try it one day ! well, if you have a proper long lens anyway . although if the arena is pretty / dusty / sunny you could have some arty pics with kit lens . I've seen some beautiful sport shots with MF .
