OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

May have bought an Olympus Trip to satisfy my urge for something film related. Not sure I needed it

Film cameras look great sat on the shelf when you're not using them though, which I guess means that they *could* (you have to try really hard) be thought of as collectible art pieces. No one worries if you spend lots of money on paintings to go on the wall, even though no one really "needs" them, so therefore cameras are perfectly OK to buy as well :D

My cameras look ugly on the shelves (and off) as they all have ugly straps attached and quite a few with old bottom half case that would fit from other cameras....well I use em.
You can all have a laugh at the meet when you see my cased Contax 139..erm well that's if the electrician's tape hold out.

Just purchased an SMC Takumar 28mm for my Spotmatic F. I like having a 28mm and 50mm kit for the cameras I shoot. If it's anything like the other SMC Takumar lenses, it should be a gem.

I made the mistake of browsing eBay in bed and put an offer in against a CDS prism for my Mamiya M645! I've been trying to get crisp results to match some I've seen on here and started wondering if the added support of having the prism against my face might help. I've had a prism before and preferred the wlf so maybe it was just a bargain gas!

Defo bargain gas!:D

I picked up à prism on hère à while ago for the RZ67......goodness knows why cos i prefer wlf and atm the kit weighs so much handheld, i feel kinda top heavy:D

Like you, it was à gas purchase but hey, i'll use it now and again and it does look the bees knees for showing off:p:D

Enjoy trying to get crisp results.....i propose that you avoid the caméra accessoires ànd simply let à décent tog use your kit.....l
Perhaps your daughter!:D

I have a spare non metered prism if you would like to try? (if your bid is not successful)
Are you going to the meet? Can't be bothered looking :)

Thanks for the offer. I am going to the Peaks meet but my offer was accepted last night so it's already been paid for.

Cheers though!

Just found these 2 at the back of a shelf while sorting a few bits out. I brought them last year as part of a fancy dress theme for my Mini for a charity Mini run

CDS metered prism for my Mamiya M645J. I bought this as faulty from eBay expecting to just use it a a plain prism which for the price would have been fine but after fitting to the body it's working perfectly so bargain :0)

I'm planning to shoot some portraits with it to see if I can improve the overall sharpness/focus over the wlf.

Nothing says "cheap camera challenge" like a champagne Mju Zoom..

....shame the lens wouldn't extend when I powered it up though! Luckily it's the usual zoom lens issue of muck and crud around the barrel so after a little bit of gentle 'persuasion' I've got it extending now :0)

So thanks to Freecom2s heads up, I had quite a bargain today. Guy advertised an A-1 with 50mm f/1.4 and a few more lenses for £40 on Gumtree. Apparently over 30 people had emailed him about it so he said the first one to buy his tripod and monpod that he was also selling as well could have the lot, for a total of £60.

Went to pick it up this morning and walked out with a lot more than I expected. Got the A-1 and 50 1.4, 24mm f/2.8, 28mm f/ 2.8, 100mm f/2.8, 70-210mm f/4 and Tokina 28-70mm f/3.5 macro. Also got a pistol grip, 11 mixed filters, two flashes, a nice cable release, a light meter, an aluminium tripod, heavy Culman tripod, all the original boxes, and loads of bags and cases to store it all in. All for 60 nuggets. All looks like it's in good condition, although the camera does have a bit of "canon squeak".

Not sure how much of it I'm actually going to use apart from the body and 50mm 1.4, but it was a nice find!

That is one characterful suitcase..:D

still, if it falls to bits you can store it all in dog beds........happy days

I'll have the suitcase! :D

My Ondu pinhole arrived yesterday almost a year after making a Kickstarter pledge -

This model is for 6*6, 6*9, or 6*12 images.

A couple of weeks ago I also picked up this Praktica MTL3 and 50mm lens in an antiques shop for £23. It's on it's third film by now and I've been quite pleased with the results.

We had travelled about 50 miles to visit Chillingham Castle, on a Saturday, but I had completely failed to notice the wording on the web site that said they were closed on Saturday. Dohh .... but seriously who closes on a Saturday? So we went a few miles further to Wooler where I found the camera. I explained to my wife that entry to the castle would have cost £25, so really I had saved £2.....

A wonderful haul. The squeak is a relatively easy fix; I used the method illustrated here: http://jetbutterfly.web.fc2.com/camera/e_squeak.html

I'm glad it was of some use - the Canon FD stuff seems very underrated by the second hand market, but it's all good stuff really.

Awesome, thanks for that, I'll have a good read later. The first time I clicked the shutter I was like "wow, that sounds badass", but now it's a little irritating haha

It makes that very classic motor driven film SLR sound, the sort you get in movie sound effects. I quite liked it, but knowing it's due to a lack of oil on the parts quickly deflates that!

Nice. I hope you enjoy the camera.

I had hoped to pick up an Ondu as well. My wife had pre-ordered the 6x6 Ondu for me as a Christmas present last year from their website, but after missing both Christmas and my 2016 birthday, she cancelled the order last month.

I hope she bought you something else instead! :D

Mine was a Xmas present from my wife as well ... but I placed the order and just told her about it. Once I realised it wasn't going to turn up in time I was forced to order an RH Systems Analyser Pro instead ... had to sell some guitars to offset the cost though.

Yeah, it probably worked out for the best as I ended up with a Rolleiflex 2.8E, which I've really been enjoying over the past few weeks, although I too had to sell some equipment to cover the difference in price between the two.

Not a camera this time but a slide projector and lots of slides

They were my nan and granddads looking forward to going through them just need a screen

I really need a scanner now.....

@Downton Mini a wall will do just fine to start with! Have fun. If your old folk are still around they may be able to help you identify some locations and people. But folk on here were amazingly helpful in identifying many locations in my father's set of 6*9 slides from the 1940s... of course they did need to be scanned first!
