That was the main reason yes, a few other things that swayed me to that particular one were; that it was in such good condition, I've used the seller before, and there weren't as many complete kits for just the AF on eBay at that time.
 
bargain, especially the 60's lightmeter.
 
With a m42 Camera, it can be a hobby playing with old screw lenses in the way they should be used and not stuck on a digi camera.

A beauty indeed, I still miss mine :( I'll have another one day :) is that the 28mm Biogon too? It's a cracker that, my annoyance is that I wasn't a particularly wide shooter when I had mine and now that I like shooting wide I don't have it :lol: You're in for a treat using it, while not as engaging as a manual slr or something there's something distinctly satisfying about using one.
 
Thanks Andy, it is the 28mm Biogon, I tend to shoot a lot with Wide lenses. I am still getting used to the quirks of the camera and looking forward to seeing some of the output from the camera soon!

They all work pretty much like this:

There should be something to set ASA/ISO, point it at the subject, the needle should stay in the same place and the two internal scales should tell which f-stop should go with what shutter speed.

That meter looks a lot older than that camera.
 
Went to a local car boot today and found a lady selling a Brownie Reflex for £2.50 :D its in pretty poor condition and don't think I'll ever manage to get a photo out of it, but I couldn't let it sit there in the drizzle and then get chucked in the bin.

You'd be surprised, mine has been abused by a three year old for the last few months and it still keeps going.
 
Sorry for the delay in updating, life has got in the way of fun again.

The Mamiya 645AFD arrived earlier this week, first impressions are very positive, feels lovely in the hand and is pretty intuitive to use.

Have shot half a test roll of Tri-X and will be taking it down to London with me next weekend to put it through it's paces.

Will stick a photo up later!
 
Congratulations. It looked a lovely camera in the earlier photos.

When I got it I couldn't flick the rear switch to take the bottom of the camera off to access the film, but I've since managed to get into it. There is one 127 spool inside, so I think I'm going to buy a roll of 127 off ebay (it's like £12!!!) to get a second spool and some backing paper (no idea how I'll scan it as I only have film holders for 135 and 120, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it lol).

From then on I'll be bodging it with 135 taped onto the 127 backing paper. Sure, I wont get 4x4 images but I'll get images at least! Luckily my film holder will cover the sprocket holes when I scan 135, otherwise people might think I'm one of those trendy hipsters uploading photos with film names and sprocket holes showing :D

Not used a camera with one shutter speed and no aperture control before, so that should be an experience too!
 
I just taken receipt of a very Nice Yashica GSN 35 .....all appears OK by modifying a cr123a battery to temporarily operate thé meter and shutter but it needs a proper battery.....anyone know of a supplier.....UK or Europe??

@ Raglansurf. Nick, don't you have a gsn??

Btw i like thé look of the xe2 ;).....and the pinhole mod.....well it's kinda cool but i got me Holga wpc:)

I have a GTN, it's a joy even if it is a little on the large size, http://52cameras.co.uk/?p=1326 Yashica Guy is the go to fella for all things Electro http://www.yashica-guy.com/document/battery.html His adapters work very well and he's incredibly helpful, if you have any problems or Electro questions just drop him an email and he'll sort you out.

I've got a few pinholes but I really wanted one I could fire remotely at a distance longer than the average cable release and I don't think you can do that on the Holga WPC (Woman Police Constable?)
