Official Fuji X-Pro 2 thread

Deep sigh... as I know I've said this 100 x.

People complain about the price but when you look at other high mp count cameras the Sony doesn't look so bad. What other camera with the same or better resolution and image quality is vastly if any cheaper?

Lenses are another issue but even so when you consider the price of the competition again I don't think the costs are all that ridiculous. A couple are arguably overpriced and some have no direct competition but all in all I say the body price is ok for what it is even arguably a bit of a bargain and the lenses are on the whole reasonable to a bit steep but not, as you put it ridiculous.

You dont have to say it again.

There is a £400+ difference between an A7rii and D810. Its not just about buying a camera, its about buying a system. There are no fast zooms, there are no long zooms, there are no fast wide angles, there are a lot of other basic primes also missing. Youre alright though, you shoot manual focus lenses.

Problem with the Sony system is their native zooms arent as good as Fuji/Nikon/Canon equivalents, the Zeiss 16-35 f4 for instance is quite soft in the corners when compared to Canons f4 or even Fujis 10-24. Never mind comparing the 24-70. Then theres the primes...most are just silly money.

Shame theres no flappy screen.

We don't want no flappy screens, just a decent viewfinder thank you! Flappy screens are for amateurs ;)

I'm an amateur. I'd like a flappy screen. Does that make me bad? :crying:

APS-C is the new 'FULL' baby!

(DISCLAIMER: NO FULL FRAME SENSORS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS STATEMENT)

By the way boys and girls, Anyone thinking of pre-ordering especially from WEX, Open a quidco account and claim 5% cashback. In the words of the big blue 'T'... "Every little helps"

No, no it isnt.

No your right it isn't; but until Fuji make one (and/or I decide to swap systems) it is in my world!

EDIT:

In fact I don't know why I even mentioned it, I don't really give a toss about the whole full/crop frame argument lol

Oh if I was in London I would!

Does anyone stick to their release dates anymore? I think it's the hype factor.

I know its nuts, I wish everyone did what Apple try to do and had their new stuff pretty much available the next day... story suggests its due to building inventory because of the surge of pre-orders, no offence but why should folk who decided to pre-order on Day 1 after launch have to wait because of trying to build numbers people further down the list who ordered later...

Fujirumours reporting firmware isnt ready yet, which i believe more than the stocking issues, although to be fair it could be a bit of both.

Read a lot of people complaining about the lifeless recessed BBF button, maybe theyre fixing that.

Fuji have confirmed that it's now early March launch, apparently due to demand as well as "production delays" which could be hardware or firmware related but that's just conjecture at this point.

On the upside, my X-E2 feels like a new camera after the firmware update :)

I did read that but one of the articles by one of the Pros who was using the prototype mentioned that they were changing that on the production model even before the prototypes were handed out in November.

Good, but I read that the guys that were testing them still had the dodgy button, almost every blog reviewer mentions it in their January reviews.... but did say Fuji were on it.

Don't suppose we'll ever know the real truth behind release dates. Never did with Olympus!

The Middle East launch is in Dubai tomorrow with Zack Arias and David Hobby. Going to flip a coin to decide whether I make the trip up..... :cautious:

Amazon currently quote the 7th of March as a release date.

Must not look again.

Less than a month, and February's a short month ...

GO LOOK, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!

lol

I wonder if you will be able to charge it through the usb like you can with the X100T, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but it's a great feature when your out and about and need a 'top up'

EDIT: Just realised it's not going to, the X100T is a 3.7v battery, the X-Pro's are 7.4v and I really can't see Fuji building a boost circuit into the camera :(

some are saying April 2017:jawdrop:
It's all very strange, they must have built 1000's already, are they all wrong ? Is it hardware or software issues ? Maybe all the faulty ones are destined for the refurb store ? Maybe that's why it's been down for so long ?

Also noticed, WEX have removed the 'expected stock date' box completely from the X-Pro 2 page.

First run of assembly for any new product always takes longer than planned, as workers are "broken in" to new procedures, right down the line to component suppliers and even printers of boxes and instructions. And I suspect they don't want the embarrassment of only being able to satisfy a small portion of pre-orders, unlike certain manufacturers I can mention (begins with an Oly and ends in a pus), or being able to ship to one country but not another. Probably the initial interest took them by surprise.

Being an "early adopter" always carries a certain risk as I have found out in the past to my cost. Personally I think I'll wait until the dust settles. I'd like to read real life user experiences before making a purchase.

£1,222 is the equivalent price here in the UAE. Comes with a metal grip or leather case.

Hmmmmmmmm
