Hi all

Have been asked to submit ideas for an office activity day to get all 8 of us together out of the office. We all get on well but something needs organising.

Suggestions so far have been paintballing, a BBQ, travelling down the river on a colleagues river boat and seeing a comedian live.

Some pretty good ideas floating about. I considered photography but it's only me and my manager into that so not sure it would get the votes.

Please fire away with any suggestions as I would love to hear some inspiring ideas!

Thanks

With 8 people you're may not find an activity that everyone wants to do.

Boat trip has H & S implications. Paintballing will just end up with one person covered in paint.

Are there any craft places locally where there are several different activities so everyone can find something they might like?

How much do you have to spend? If you can afford it, how about something car related such as go karting or even an introduction to off road driving?

Thanks both for suggestions. Budget is not yet decided, I think if it was something worth doing people would pay more but it is the trouble of getting agreement. looking into the driving side of things as everyone likes their cars

Look at something called airsoft rather than paintball. A lot less paint, and can be good for team. Utilising as it more often than not involves working in teams.

quadbiking, clay pidgeon shooting, archery, white water river rafting, a trip on a chartered yacht, etc just some ideas. we did quadbiking amongst many other stuff on our team building weekend which was really fun.

Have been on a few. The day out on the canal in a narrowboat was ok, but bar sorting breakkie and dinner not much to do. ALso did a sponsored walk up Snowdon, really pulled people together both getting sponsors and during the walk - and at the celebratory "we did it" dinner at the hotel afterwards!

Bowling, quad biking, sailing, Go Karting are all ok too. Hiring the hall at the local sports centre for basketball/football also worked really well.

I would say it needs to be something no one does regularly so similar ability levels. Weather needs to be considered (I ain't going near the top of Snowdon or lake/canal water when it's this cold). And with some element of teamwork - there is a guy in manchester that does a day learning to firewalk!

Thanks all for the suggestions! Really good ideas coming out, going to do my research tomorrow morning then send them off for approval

does it have to be a fun day out thats paid for, or is it a team building thing? Just wondering if something totally out of left field like working in a homeless shelter for an evening, or tree planting/clearing in woodlands, etc, etc, etc, would be something you could consider. All sorts of charitable and community things that could be fun if done as a group, costs very little and would benefit someone else rather then costing a fortune. Just an alternative thought... ;)

Alternatively, what about a day at the horse racing....

Close the office at noon on a Friday, go to a good restaurant, meal and drinks on the company then adjourn to a pub until everyone has had as much as they want, also all paid for by the company.

We do that once a year at Christmas. Everyone seems to enjoy it, being paid to eat well and get drunk :D I'm not sure if it counts as "team building" though!

We have had a few team building days

they include go karting, our boss bringing in a Wii for the day, an 8 mile walk in the Lake District

All of which were great fun
