As above, anyone here been to gigrin farm? It's 2 hour drive from where I'm staying. Will a 300mm be good enough? How long do the kites hang around?

Thank you in advance

H Sarah

Have a great trip its a great place.

Personaly I would book one of the photo hides. The gateway is a tenner each. Buts its on the ground rather than he higher ones. It is my favorite though.

In the photo hides you have more room and better photo chances. You are best to book it on route or before you go.

I wild take a variaty of lenses. I only use my 300mm and 500mm but my wife likes her 70-200mm

Stay as long as uou can when people go it gets better and the young white ones turn up.

They feed at 3pm, but you get plenty of photo options for quite some time so no need to rush when they first starting swooping down for food.
Have a great day, it superb for action shots. A lot of the birds have coloured tags on their wings so I try to avoid photographing them. I also look for the ones without feathers missing etc.

Taken last week with a 300mm.

they come in waves and hang around well until 6 o'clock, look out for ravens and buzzards as well - good photo ops

oh and the white kite, there's five that visit there

Hi there from a very wet Sydney, where we are visiting my brother and friends. The storm is raging and I began thinking about the trip to Gigrin that we had promised ourselves when we were home. So, 4 years on from the start of this thread, what changes have there been? Is 300 MM. from the new hides still the best length to take? Thanks for posting if you do.

Great shot I have been there to
