I'm heading off to Alaska in couple of weeks:p This was the final piece of the jigsaw that made me buy my Nikon D80 after years of compacts. I felt that this once in a lifetime (for me) chance demanded a good camera. I've since added a couple of lenses, so now have (as per sig) 18-135Nikon 70-300VR Nikon and a Sigma 24-70 F2.8Macro.
My question is, if you were going, what lenses would you be taking? I'm toying with hiring a Sigma 10-20, though i may take the chance and buy one on the basis that if i don't like it i shouldn't lose too much, taking the hire costs into account.
Your thoughts please:wave:

A 10-20mm, the 24-70mm and the 70-300mm. Spare batteries. Lots of SD cards.

IMO, take a nice wide lens like the 10-20 for landscapes and something like a 300mm for the wildlife... That would be me sorted.

Assuming that you're not weight constrained I'd buy the Sigma 10-20mm and take the 24-70 and 70-300 as well. Also a tripod.

If you are weight constrained then you probably have the wrong kit. ;)

I went in 2006, awesome place.

You won't need the Sigma 10-20, or the 24-70.

Take the 18-35 and the 70-300 VR.

Some of mine from the trip :)

Enjoy :)

Cheers guys. I've been thinking about the 10-20, i think i'll buy it rather than hire it and run the risk that i don't like it. Thats if i decide to go that way, still not sure.
Puddleduck, great photos, i guess your theory is the country is too big for the 10-20??

I'm off to search the 10-20 photos on here to try and decide.
