afternoon. can anybody recommend any efficient sync software (either hosted on windows or osx) for backing up data off-site where the transfer/upload speed is close to that of your isp's rate?

I'm using 3 on OSX. SUgarsync and dropbox are the quickes i have, but very expensive for large amounts of data. I am also trialling Crashplan, and that is uploading approx 1 to 2gb overnight. I also looked at Carbonite, but they throttle uploads after 35gb and again at 200gb.

thanks raps.

ideally what i was looking for was software recommendations people used to sync/make off-site backups to a nas box as opposed to storing at cloud level. i'm sure it's not fool-proof, but one big advantage i've read about backing up this way is that the limits on storage are determined only by the amount of space available in the nas, but obviously there's a hefty investment in boxes, drives and your time. otherwise as you say anything cloud based that runs beyond the terabyte can be pretty crippling

Windows / Linus or OSX?

I'm on osx and use time machine to back up. But i'm nearly filling my laptop hard drive, so i too will be looking for a NAS solution in the coming months
