bought one of those cheapy wireless off shoe flash triggers off ebay.

1 part sits on the hotshoe, the other is connected to flash unit. It has a wire that seems to connect somewhere, possibly to the bit that sits on the hot shoe

Now, it seemed to work Ok on my 400d, however, on my 40d the flash seems to charge up and fire even without the shutter being pressed. if i time it right then and take the shot i can trigger it using the shutter but 9 out of 10 times the flash just fires.

Am i supposed to 'calibrate' it but pluggin the wire into the bit that sits on the shoe then taking a shot so that it recognises the signal?

Anyone have same probs?

i belive its a cord to connect to the pc port on the ccamera to the trigger. Dont quote me on this - i have the set and never used it (I use a 400D as well)

I dont think it is, its the wrong shape. It seems to fit snugly into the socket on the hotshoe.

I thought that maybe you needed to connect the remote unit to the bit that sits on the hotshoe, using this wire so that it kida recognises the signal or something......

as you can see im baffled!!

The 40d does have a flash sync socket on the side of the body if that's any help.
