Off camera speed light

What camera do you have?

Odds are you don't even need that cable. Google up "Nikon CLS SB600"

You can certainly buy that particular cable cheaper than that, but assuming your camera is able to work as a TTL commander (most of the Nikons do except the entry level ones) then that is the cheapest way to get the flash off camera as you don't need to buy anything extra....

sorry, forgot to put... I have a Nikon D40

I have found it for 8.99 on ebay

Bear in mind you won't be able to get the flash very far off camera using one of those cords, something like the 1.8m one you linked to is only really suitable for using with the flash on a camera-mounted bracket.

cheers, read somewhere it only actually extends to 1.7m. Just going to have a look around, see what I can find

It extends to 1.7m if you stretch it out, but it's not as if you can have the flash mounted on a lightstand 1.7m away, realistically you have only a fraction of the full length as a working distance.
