Hi, I've finally got my flashgun to fire off camera and this is my 1st attempt

I'm struggling to find any decent tut's or blogs on this that take you through the whole set-up etc... Does anyone have any tips or links as I really want to get into this. I have a Sigma 530 DG Super and an 'el cheepo' wireless remote. This photo was shot with a Canon 40D but I sold that last night and have ordered a 60D. I assume the remote will work with both. Thanks in advance for your help.

There's an excellent book - Speedliter's Handbook by Syl Arena http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedliters-Handbook-Learning-Speedlites-ebook/dp/B004JXXKYW/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1376044493&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=syl+arena

The hardware is Canon specific, but everything else applies to all systems.

I echo Hoppy's comments on this book.

Very comprehensive - goes through equipment such as lighting stands, diffusers etc but also shows settings and flashgun set ups for multiple scenarios.

thanks guys... I think I will get divorced if I buy another photography book... lol... it's on my wishlist for now. Do you know of any good websites?

Couple of vids on you tube. One for the person who wrote the book worth watching.

The dvd's lighting in layers by David hobby the guy behind the blog strobist 101. Are very good. As well as the strobist 101 blog, there is a strobist group on Flickr, but tends to be more about the discussion of gear.

Second rec for NeilVN's tangents stuff, a real goldmine.

This video of his is *well* worth a watch, even though it's a long one (90 mins):

A summary of his 3rd book and a load of tips, i found the video presentation really handy to follow.

Oh, love the image btw, great dark look - i'd call that a good start
