Off camera flash

Evening all,

I'm just getting used to using my 430exII and I would really like to start experimenting with it off camera. I know a cable is the simplest/cheapest route but they all seem very short, I like the idea of wireless but im a bit clueless as to what i need? does the 430 have an inbuilt receiver?

I dont have a massive budget so the cheaper the better:thumbs:

if you want to go off camera without a cable you need to be working in manual (unless you buy a 580exII, ST-E2 or pocketwizard ttls)

I'd buy a set of RF-602s from Graham on here (flash in the pan) then hit calumet for a stand and adaptor, a dual duty brolly gives you a lot of options there

With the RF-602s is that a transmitter and a receiver as a set?
 
Yeah, or you can buy extra receivers for multiple Flash's if you need later to expand

This photography hobby is proving to be a bit more expensive than i thought haha
 
yeah the rf 602s have a transmitter module and a reciever module and david hobby is a legend, if you understand the whole 101 then you will be competent to handle all but the most complex technical issues
 
Just read flash in the pans sales page, if I understand correctly I can order a Rf602 from him and whenever I get a second flash I can just buy a second receiver to add to the setup?
 
Yhea you can add in receivers at any time dude (i'm not sure however if FITP is selling them on their own, or is still just doing sets of 1T&1R just.

If not, you can get these on ebay very cheaply also - just search for RF602 and they will turn up.

Strobist 101 is very good reading, once you get to grips with 101, 102 is even better :)
