As I think I mentionned in another thread, I recently had an order from Amazon duplicated - they sent me 2 of everything I had ordered. Being honest (and since returns are prepaid postage), I returned the extra items to Amazon, with a signed for label so they couldn't deny receiving the goods. :unnecessarysuspicion:

Today, I have received 2 batches of e-mails from them, the first telling me the goods had been received and the 2nd telling me that my account has been creditted with the full amount for the original order! Again, being the honest chap I am, I phoned them (or filled in the form for them to phone me) and spoke to a young lady and finally managed (I think) to get her to understand that I didn't want Amazon to think I had ripped them off for just over £50. Turns out (I think) that Amazon's policy in cases like this is to refund the original payment, so My CD alarm clock radio and 3 CDs appear to be gratis, free and for nothing! I'm not complaining, far from it but as a policy, it seems a little strange! I'm hoping it's the end of the matter (well, it will be when I spend what's in my account!) but at least I have assuaged my conscience and drawn their attention to the repayment. Should I get a bill from them in the future, I'll know what it's for. Ironically, in the meantime, I've placed another order with them and had I known about the refund, I could have used the credit to pay for it but hey, I can now look forward to £54 or so of free shopping.:D

I already have a D700 which has as many pixies as I want/need so see no reason to "upgrade". In fact, I'm 1/2 looking (like many D700 owners) for a new one to stick in the cupboard in case this one dies!

I always buy from Amazon if their price is within a few quid of rivals just because of their customer service. No quibble returns and prompt rectification of any problems is my experience with them.

Now it's just getting silly - last friday, the letterbox clattered and I saw the card being pushed through the door. I know the bell works because I tested it - the lazy ******* hadn't even tried to deliver the box and probably had the card written before he left the depot! This morning, I went to the collections office to pick up the package and yes, it contained a third CD player! Of course, I'm going to return it but what's the betting that the CDs that complete the order arrive tomorrow and that when I return the whole order, Amazon refund me again?!

LOL! Is it honestly worth your time and effort returning it all. Just keep em in the box in the garage or out of the way. If they ever pick up on their mistake in the next week weeks then help them. If not, use em if/when your current one breaks.

Time to order the spare D700....

Not at over 2 grand!

I had an odd one with them many years ago. I ordered a minidisc recorder which arrived a few days later, then I got an email telling me that they we're sorry that they were now out of stock so couldn't fulfil my order so were refunding me. I got in touch to explain that I had already received it and was told that it should have been sent by a delivery method that required a signature and that as it hadn't been they had to assume it had not arrived and would refund. I tried to explain that I could assure them that it had arrived but they insisted that they needed to refund me!

I've ordered a £2 cable from them before now, which has been delivered on a Saturday via City Link requiring a signature and inside leg measurement and then a £350 lens which appeared to come from Germany via normal, non-signed-for post!

Potentially easy to abuse but as others have said, their returns policy (which they've told me before is just an accepted cost of doing business online) is second to none.

I got a refund from Amazon recently from a purchase over 2 years ago. Was only for £12 but it threw me out as to why I was getting a refund! I forgot I'd even bought the item!

I got an email the next day saying they made a mistake and was taking the money back.

No CDs arrived yet, so will return the player and if another set of disks arrives, I'll send them back seperately - it's them that foots the postage bill!
