Yes
I don't really know how it happened now but a couple of years ago I decided to give photography another go.

I bought an £85 Fuji bridge camera on EBay and out I went snapping away.

Two years on loaded with loads more gear and lots of knowledge gained from here and more recently the many YouTube videos I have been watching I think it's getting to be an obsession.

My camera bag goes everywhere with me and I am constantly looking for an opportunity.

Weather looks decent tonight so I have spent the last hour trying to decide which direction to take after work for the best chances and holiday planning these days is totally centred on photography lol

I'm sure it's not just me but this photography thing just seems to get in to you in a big way.

So are you tonyphotographer on BCUK? Flog a precision & prove it. ;)

Haven't been on BCUK for a while although still a paid up member.

Do you have a family? Do they mind? Or do they not realise you're planning holidays around photo opportunities? :)

I've sometimes planned a day trip to visit a place I'd like to photograph, but I can't monopolise a family holiday with photography.
These days I also have a smaller kit, so I'm not carrying around as much as I used to, (which pleases the wife) but it's also good from the point of view of simplifying and making you think more about the shot rather than about the gear.

We all go through a "gear" phase and a "I'll carry it with me all the time" phase. I've managed to wean myself off the "must shoot everyday" phase ;) Though I still prefer to not be without a camera.

Yes I have to work things around the family but like others I try and do the "get out early before they are up" routine. Our three youngest are 15, 16 and 17 so not early risers on holiday. I know what you mean about the gear from my band days. We went from very basic to full on shows with lights, lasers, smoke, backdrops etc with long set up and strip downs. My plan if I gig now is minimal set up and out of the door soon after the encore lol.
