Anyone with O2 broadband? What is the service like? Thinking of leaving talk talk and moving to O2.

Thanks

I was with them for a couple of years and happy with the service.

I've been with o2 a few years now, consistent service, the only problem I've had is a O2 router went faulty (after 2 years of service), they promptly sent me a new one free of charge.
I'm on ADSL2 so get fairly steady 16mb d/l speeds across the day.

I'm happy enough with them :)

ive been with o2 now for around 4 years & can honestly say ive never had any problems at all with them

Thank you all. Reason for more in to O2 is the cost. I want to keep my phone with BT.

Hi,nearly five years with O2 and i can only recall two issues of being off line ,both exchange faults but back on line within hours .

OK. So you're considering moving for reasons of cost - yet you wish to stay with the most expensive provider of line rental and calls

fo what reason do you want to keep your phone with BT for.? they dont give you any more service than o2 & it costs you more. o2 now have my phone line & broadband & i dont even have an o2 mobile but i get the extra fiver off as you can use anyones o2 number so ive added my nieces o2 number & its dropped it by another fiver..

i pay just over £15 a month & thats for my phone line & completely unlimited net.. NO calls included but we never use the phone we use our mobiles so didnt go with any phone package with them...

bargain for 15 quid all in when with BT ya phone lines is near on that alone..

The reason for keeping the phone with BT is I would pay for the line rental up front for 12 months which would bring it down from around £15 to £11 and that includes caller id. With all the other providers I would have to pay extra for caller id.

Looking at O2 for the All Rounder option with phone it will cost £31 and at present I pay £26 for my phone and bb.

I did not know I could use someone else's O2 number. Thanks for that.

*cough*

Oh, no, it's not!

well thats what they told me & i must download near on 100 gig a month & never had any probs..

see pic its still showing green & unlimited.

There's many an O2 customer getting their accounts closed when they hit 40 gig downloads. Some have reported this with 30 gig.

It's true, especially when you stream a lot it has a fair use policy.

Was with O2 for years and never had a problem with speed or service. The only reason I left was infinity. Should O2 provide infinity speeds would definately consider moving back

Sorry quick question, when you give a O2 number does it have to be registered at the same address?

Thanks. Just waiting for a MAC code from talktalk.

If you're on an 'unbundled' exchange then they sell the BeThere LLU (O2 own BeThere) service. Been using them for the past 3 years and VERY pleased with them - have pulled down 300GB+ some months and not heard a peep from them.

But they don't do fibre.... (which is why I left them...)

Thanks. Just want to save money as what I get with talk talk is fine but they charge about £16. Have subscribed to O2 today, should hopefully move in the next 5 days and will cost about £7 for the next 12 months.

Been with O2 for 3 years now for broadband and 2 for phone.

Can't fault their service!

One of the big pluses for me is an 0800 customer service and technical helpline.

I'm pretty much sitting on top of the exchange and regularly get 15 meg download speeds, it's very rare that it'll drop below 10 meg.

Thanks. Have registered using my brothers number but might just get a pay as you go and top of £10 every 3 months incase he needs to use his number. Hopefully should be transferred over on the 16th. Thanks for replying.

As a couple have mentioned above, I used to be with 02. And they were 100%, never had an issue with them. I then went to Talk Talk, two words to describe them was painfull and Joke. Now with Virgin Media, if 02 did fibre then I would def go back.

Moved across to O2 last week and the move went smoothly. I wanted to use my Netgear router, so called them and they talked me through the settings.

However I seem to be getting a lot of disconnection, I don't know if this sort of things happen for a few days or not. I am using a Netgear Dg834gt with the Dgteam firmware on it. Anyone know why I get disconnections?

Thanks

id call them.

it could be a line fault, it could be a result of testing the stability of the line, could be a faulty microfilter.

if its testing then you dont want to turn the router off or disconnect if you can help it so would be best to check first.

Kev may I ask why you have decided to use your own router when the one they send you out is way better than a dg834gt that must be years old.

the one they sent me was the one with twin antennas & twice the range than the older routers & has never let me down

give it ago see if your net holds out then..

Thanks. It was okay for a day or so. Will wait for a few days before calling.

Thanks. The reason why I used the DG834GT is beacuase I have a port forwarding setup on it so did not have the time to set up the O2 router. I will wait for a few days and see what happens, and at the weekend try and set up the o2 router to see if I can get better results.

I think you will find the o2 box will do just about everything the netgear does when you go into the admin side of it.

I had the same netgear router as you for years & after giving the o2 one ago my netgear has since been in the box..

If they have sent you the router with the usb connector on the side you can also use this to couple a backup drive to so everyone on your home network can connect to it & share files or if setup via FTP.. saves having your pc on 24/7 for to share files from. only problem is its not very fast transfer rate when sharing via local network across pc's..

I load all my films music & photos onto it & the kids can play them anywhere in the house its great for that..

anyhow good luck with the line I hope it gets better for ya as ive honestly never had any problems with o2 & when my contract runs out in feb next year im hoping they can give me the same deal if not better.

Thank you. I have the v5 wireless router. Need to check if it had usb as that would be good. That's the weekend sorted.

Neil

Does you lease renew every hour on the O2 router?

Thanks

Looks like the router change has helped. Thank you all for the help.
