Hello all

Usually I dont go to people asking for favours but I need any help I can get with this.

I've got a friends wedding to do this Saturday and booked out a Canon 85mm F/1.2 L Lens via Lensesforhire for delivery today. Its now 6:20pm and I've been in talks with the courier comany looking to find out where the lens is? They've informed me that it was signed by a 'D. Price' about 11:30am.

No one at this property is called by that name and the courier company cannot get in touch with the driver till tomorrow morning. I've checked with the neighbours and non of them recieved any packages. I dont know what the courier did exactly now:|

I hired this lens especially for the wedding and now left pocketless. I've left a voicemail with lensesforhire but I wont hear from them till tomorrow. At that time I dont know what else they can do?

So I decided to come to here and see if any of you would be kind enough to lend me something good to make my photos give that extra wow factor. I'm willing to travel to meet anyone who can help me on this issue?

I know I'm just another internet forum user but I'm stuggling here as to what I can do for the wedding on Saturday.

Thats fine, I understand.

My name is Keng-Hay Wong, I'm 25 from Northampton. I have an positive ebay account with a rating over 50+ and also confirmed Paypal address.

I'm a keen photographer who have just started to become a freelancer. I use the member market area on Overclockers UK form and have positive feedback.

If any can help and would lend me 85mm F/1.2 or a L Lens for wedding use I can pay a deposit if you need that added security.

There's a fair chance someone will be along shortly to lend a hand (with a lens in it) if you mention your area, that is...

Being that you're relatively new, I'd expect that they ask to come along and hold your hand so to speak...so you might have to pony-up for lunch and petrol-money (or make the offer at least...you never know).

Why not contact Stuart from Lensesforhire? He is a member on TP and I am sure will look for a solution for you? Surely if you have paid money to hire the lens then you have a vested interest in trying to sort that way?

Have messaged Stuart for you and sent him a link to this thread. Sometimes he visits these parts in the evenings.

You may be genuine but I wouldn't take the chance to be honest. You have very few posts and the story sounds a little dubious to me. Anyone lending a lens out should at least get a driving licence or passport as security in my opinion. Sorry to be so negative here

Not necessarily - had a courier deliver here that used his common sense once a few mon ths ago - hane written onto the parcel was my name and address - the courier office produced label was something entirely different and about 3 miles away - because of this the driver was cautious and checked for me before delivering and when the people at the other addy had never heard of me, he came to investigate the hand wrtitten address...that was £130 of clothing that didnt go astray luckily but it does show that errors can be made and the lens might not have got as far as the same street.

However, as already mentioned, Stuart is a member here, so drop him a PM and perhaps also edit your thread title to include LfH so he might see it quickly.

Look around your property really carefully. Outside bins, behind gates etc. etc.

It's possible he has signed for it himself, and left it for you. It isn't unheard of.

have you any roads near you with a similar name, might be worth checking there,
I have had that problem, I live at 1* chineham way, parcel was delivered to 1* cambridge way,
Just a thought.

UPDATE:

Dan from LeneseforeHire recieved my voicemail and will send me a 2nd lens tomorrow! Just in time for the wedding!

I must say I was panicing as to what I can do but he's reassured me that he has a new brand smacking lens for me to use and will have a chat with the courier company tomorrow he will dispatch a new lens for me!

I must say this is an acceptional service! I have never come across such customer facing service. I want to say my thanks to Dan/Stuart @ Lensesforhire for their prompt service.

BTW, Stuart is away from the office and wont have access to a computer this weekend.

Nice one

From what I have seen on here the guys are top blokes and know people rely on them to deliver....
