Yes
For some reason last night I left my windows on the car partially open.
Of course it rained overnight. Didnt realise Id left them open until I sat in the seat this morning and like sitting in a duck pond.
Back inside, change trousers etc.
Bunged a large carrier bag over the seat then a folded towel and drove to work. Still got a wet *rse though, some seeped round the edge.

So any ideas on how to dry out a car interior much appreciated!

Thanks

Baby's nappies face down and leave the windows open.............................

..................if it's not raining of course. You can use a hoover on a petrol station forecourt/car wash to suck out some of the moisture too.

Been there, done that, left sunroof open during thunderstorm! Just soaked up as much as I could out of the seats with paper towels, then left the heaters on for a few hours (opening the sunroof again to let the vapour escape!)

Find a Sunny Day then leave your doors, not just windows, wide open.

Alternatively, fill your tank, run the engine with the aircon on max (cold). Far more effective at removing the dampness than heaters.

I have a wet dog, so have a fitted boot guard and covers.

Wet car, just wait - it's hot enough during the day to dry, just ventilate the car. For real speed, let the car heat up, open the doors to let out the moist air, repeat

If you HAVE to lock it up and close the windows, leave a couple of trays of common salt inside.

We dont have common salt round these parts dont you know. Waitrose air dried pacific salt only.

fill the car full of rice?
lol. I'll have a word with me Uncle Ben.

Saying that there was always some rice in the salt cellar when I was growin' up.

OH has a Golf Mk4 which is known to have water problems on models fitted with sunroofs....drain block up...

for while i did smell foul, we had a cut onion in the car for a while but problem was compounded by the fact the car was seldom used...now ok though

Just concentrate on getting as much of the moisture out,

Wet vax machine will suck out all the moister and can shampoo it at the same time, believe you can hire them out for a day as well!

Kellett

Cat litter in a pillow case or towel, soaks up the wet, this comes from an expert with a leaky Leon
I also have a cheapo vacuum that sucks up water, that helps a lot too

Whatever you do, don't leave it shut up completely until it's as dry as possible. If you can, leave it somewhere secure and dry overnight with as may orifices as possible open. If you have aircon, keep it on full blast as you're driving around as well as having the windows open. As many moisture soaker uppers as you can think of in the car as much as possible - maybe even consider hiring a dehumidifier for a few days. (A friend's Golf's sunroof leaked, unbeknown to her and she went away for 3 months. When she got home, it was FULL of green mould.)

believe I have managed to scrounge a dehumidifier off a friend so will be running that in the evenings over the next few days in it.

Cheers all.

I risked a drive in this morning without the Asda bag for life carrier bag under my posterior. Dont seem to have a wet arse so Im hoping Ive got away with it.
