Numberplate anyone?

just realised how that relates to photography - doh!

now if it was eos1d....

Personalised number plates are so lame. It boggles the mind how much people pay for them.

I saw ORG45M go for about £30,000 a few years back.
Dean:)

My mates boss has ROL 3X on his car. A BMW of course. What a complete and utter ******.

A young girlie in scunny drives a beamer 7 series with the reg G1V ED ????

I know! They used to make me so ***** angry. But then I realised that these people are willing to spend so much money on so little but their vanity, and their spending had virtually no impact on the environment. Whereas, if they'd bought a car for that much money, or virtually anything else, they'd be screwing the planet up even more!:D

But better not mention that to Jeremy Clarkson et al....

Erm - apologies to any personalised number plate owners out there ....

PS Oh yes, they've probably got the car already....

PPS I wonder if its possible to do a degree in PNP studies? At Scunthorpe Uni perhaps?

PPPS I warned you not to get me started .....

Steve Parish still has his PEN1S - used to be on a Merc SL500, probably and SLK now.

I saw J11HAD on a Supra. J1HAD wasn't issued due to the religious significance.

I've also been nearly hit twice by some git driving an Audi TT T80NED. T-Boned by T-Boned - that would have been fun filling in the insurance details.

Is it true that Clarkson owns AT 05 SER ? ;)

I did it differently......

I registered my company / domain name using my car reg.

I've got the company/web & car , a bit sad but makes me smile :bonk:

Actually I have my own personal number plate for good reason. First it it was bought back in 1996 because my name is barry and at the time I owned 3 dogs hence - B3 DOG. Also I own a boarding kennels and cattery so it promotes my business as a reminder to exisiting clients. Third it has appreciated in value a lot more than most things.Forth it is easy to remember

I do resent those who consider personal number plates as snob value. Quite often it may be for sentimenal reasons as a reminder of a departed family member or pets ( as in my case)

Previous posts on this thread havn't given a thought as to why some people have their own plates, all they can think is owners of personal plates drive posh cars and are showing off. I would suggest that before shouting off about something give it a little more thought first.

I think he means me.

Sorry, Barry

I could change my name by deed poll to S358 LKT. Hey presto, I'd have my very own personalised number plate for free.

(NB: That reg number was fictional) :nono:

i really want to buy WEZ 130 but it's not available, i might change my name to NH54 CUA instead, then it'll be a personal plate :D

I have two personalised numbers, if you want to call them that. One is RMO 289 and the other is 515 UXK.

I didn't pay a penny for either of them, they came off old motors I used to have.

Anyway, why can't people buy a number plate for their car, if they want to? You can choose everything else about your car, so why not your number plate (in fact, buying a number when buying a new car is the only part which makes sense because it gains in value while the car drops).

.............you're coming across a tiny bit bitter and jealous.........

Not jealous .... not bitter either, actually. I just can't get my head around the idea that people are willing to pay so much for so little, and see earlier post about ecological aspect ....... I do find numberplates fascinating though.:)

I didn't pay that much for my plates either in comparison to what the estimated value of them now is. I don't think that 4/5 times increase in value (at least) is a bad investment, especially with the car accessory side of motoring.

I saw one an a Ford Escort Van, complete with all the spoliers and huge exhaust etc.

Number plate was A1 TWT

I think he may have missed a vowel out:lol:

at the end of the day though its there money not yours, they may say the same about you with camera gear

oh and for the record i have one, S19VEW Name is Steven White, easy enough to work out

i wouldnt class it as stupid money what i paid and its something everyone knows me by

The company that empties our septic tank at home have 'POO' on all their wagon numberplates... 1 POO, POO 2, etc.... :gag:

I have a personal plate and its great.

None of that having to remember a different reg when you buy a new car. I don't have to get the company to change their records of reg plates that are allowed in the company car park either. I use my reg for passwords on various software at work and at home, so i never have to change those either.

There is obviously a certain 'snob' value. I drive an 07 MINI but my plate is an old prefix T reg so its obvious its a personal plate. But there is snob value in everything.

Why buy a Canon lens when a Sigma will do just as well. Why shop at in designer shops when Primark will do. A personal plate is just another brand really.

apperently there is a girl that works in my company that has something like
M111TED, and yes, she is meant to be Minted.

I saw this advertised once...

MI55 DEE

I want :(
