Today as usual after shooting I downloaded the images from the camera onto my PC using the cable however, my previous images very in the 9000's (IMG_9000, IMG9001 etc.) However today the images have re-set back to 1 IMG_0001 etc. Anyone know why this has happened? It's actually really annoying. :bang:

The 400D resets the count at 9999 but it should have incremented the folder number by 1.

Ah sorted. Can't beleive i've taken 10,000 photos wow. What do you mean by the folder number? I put all my raws into one folder, not specific dated folders.
 
Ah that'll change. I shot over 40K photos with my 300d, so all my raws are sorted by date, per year.
 
You will find you will be over writing you previous raw images once you role the clock unless you sort out some filing or folder system....

I found that out the hard way and I have a list of places to revisit to try and retake shots that I have over written.....

That was over two years ago and I am still trying to recreate the lost images.

Dont learn the hard way.... its very annoying...

Is there anyway on the 400D of knowing how many photos i have taken?
 
Techno-Geek Look on the file name and just keep in mind that it resets every 10k so you can roughly guess is it first 10k or something more ...
 
it should have created a new folder on the CF card when it hit 9999
