I'm assuming a few posters on here are members of the union. and can maybe help with my question.
I was asked by the local paper if I'd be interested in doing some freelance stuff for them, which I certainly am. I was having a talk with the photographer yesterday and he mentioned that he'd want anyone freelancing for them to be in the NUJ.
I've had a quick look at the site and it appears that you need to be making a living from freelancing to join the NUJ (I think), my question would then be, if I need to be a member to work for the paper, but need to work for the paper to be a member, how does it work?
I hope that one day, I'll be able to go full time with photography, but at present, my day job pays my mortgage and puts food on the table!
