Nuisance Telephone calls ....GRRRR!!!

That's not my experience Alex, sorry to hear yours is different.
 
I don't answer calls from witheld, unavailable, international or non-geographic numbers. This solves the majority of problems with nuisance callers.

The emergency services REALLY need not to withhold their number when calling people though.
 
TPS has ben excellent for me over the years. They stopped all the junk calls I used to get dead.

Unfortunately there is little they can do about calls from abroad.
 
Never answer the phone from numbers I do not know, if its important they will leave a message.
 
Yesterdays daily drivel went along the lines of ( a pre-recorded message,in a rather posh voice)..."do not hang up,this is an important message concerning your miss-sold".......Click, too late mate, I have hung up.
 
We seem to be getting quite a few lately starting with " Don't worry, I'm not trying to sell you anything".

To which I answer "Oh good" .................and then hang up.

Our phone is still in my girlfriend's old married name, so if callers ask "are you Mr girlfriend's name " I always know it's a spam call. I then have the option of stringing them along if I'm feeling bored or hanging up.:D
 
I used to get several a day despite being with the TPS.

40 quid and they all went away.....

I get 1 a fortnight or so. They are always from "number unrecognised/out of area" so I pretty much know before I pick it up. I could block those too but my wife's office uses a fancy exchange that looks the same to the caller id.
 
i tend to get them from mainly the indian sub continent about once every couple of months ,it goes something like this.

hello .
can i speak to mr …..
he's not here .
well my name is clive ? and i am calling from (whatever-whoever etc)
AH clive my name is detective bailey ,we are currently conducting a murder inquiry ,how well did you know the deceased .

this is the point they ALWAYS hang up on me ,just can't understand why LOL
