Yes
Before Christmas I treated myself to a new compact camera for the hills. I bought the Panasonic LX5 and had the pleasure of it's company for about a month before my Wife left it lying in London, Opps

I've finally save up a few quid again and went to buy a replacement. I found on on Ebay, Brand New, Located in the UK and a seller rating of 99.8% and 15,000 transactions under his belt. What could go wrong???

Camera arrived yesterday and I went to set it up tonight but on the front of the box it says "NTSC Output Only", No PAL setting available!!!

The camera I lost was clearly marked "PAL Output" on the box.

Anybody out there know if this will effect the operation of this camera here in the UK in any way. I don't know enough about the technology behind these formats. I just remember from years ago (When I wer' a lad) and everything was analog, there would have been a major problem.

I know the photo's will be ok but it's the HD Video recording and playback that worries me because it is one of the main reasons I went for this camera. I was very very impressed with the video quality.

Need to know an answer to this one quite soon because I would like to bring it up Meelmore but if it's gonna be trouble it will be going back to the seller pronto

Does it have settings in the camera to change the output, if not I'd contact the seller with a view to sending it back.

Most modern TV's will play NTSC back but thats not the point.

If you plan to link the camera to your TV then it's an issue. NTSC is the american colour TV broadcast system and it may well be incompatible with your TV. It's also a vastly inferior system to PAL and suffers from colour phase errors - when I was studying electronics we used to call it 'never the same colour'.

I think I'd be looking for a replacement, personally.
