Now THAT's what I call a lens :)

Yeah there's been some topics about this lens before.

Costs like $40,000

You would need a Charles Atlas course to carry one of these,
and a healthy bank ballance to pay for it, but that is an awsome lens. :)

For what it's worth, if you couple this lens to a Rebel XTi or EOS 40D you end up with the 35mm-equivalent of 1920/5.6, a 2688/8 with a 1.4x extender, and a 3840/11 with a 2x extender.

I'm just about to buy a jessops tripod for £19.99, will it work for this lens?

You might need a few lol. Also start looking for photographers with one arm more muscular than the other.

Oh! You can put the £20 note away. The 1200mm comes with it's own custom built tripod and flight case.

Do I get first dibs on borrowing the 1200mm when you get it now?

Oh cheers Nathan! that's a real bargain then :)

do you think I could use the jessops one and eBay the other? looking to save a couple of quid here...

Here's a still bigger beast:

The ultimate wildlife lens? Sigma claims the APO 200-500 F/2.8 is the world's first lens to offer an F/2.8 aperture at 500mm focal length. It comes with an "attachment" to give users a handy 400-1000mm F/5.6 option. The lens weighs nearly 16kg and uses a dedicated Li-ion battery to provide power for focusing and zooming.

I've got loads of both of these lenses kicking around in me garage somewhere..

Umm I think Ill buy one of each......

Well you never know, you might just be a mile too close to your subject so out comes the 500mm :naughty:

now Im gonna have to change my car to a Landrover to carry them, a hoist & some form of tripod (not Jessops or Aldi)
what about filters to protect the lens ??? (perhaps a window glazing company)

Some form of platform so the tripod does not sink, well you never know

ummm problems problems :)
