Now do you married guys/girls do it......?

well - considering she's already threatened to leave me three times this year already purely on disagreements over shots I've taken (or wanted to take) for the POTY competition, I don't think taking her along for a days shooting would be a good idea

jeez --- and it's only April....

She always comes with and puts up with taking pics to a point, then I get the "will you stop taking so long and hurry up" line.

it's so nice [sometimes] to be single....

Forget the wife, wait until the kids come along! Zero time for shooting and when you do get out you find sticky finger prints on your tripod and you've packed a baby monitor cable instead of the camera cable!

Tell me about it mate! my current still life took me so long because I don't actually have a studio - I shoot in the spare bedroom, and after every session I had to break down my set, and clear everything away, then re-setup next time I wanted to shoot. Reason being "we might need the bedroom - can't have all your wierd carp all over it if someone needs to sleep there" - I don't think we've had unexpected guests for the last 5 years :cuckoo:

Whilst I am still only just getting into photography my wife only sees the expense. Its not that I have spent much yet !! don't even have my own camera yet (using my work camera). She has agreed to me getting a new computer for editting (but the compromise means it will be a laptop) I can't afford it yet though.

I get a lot "grief" when I spend a day out with the family and camera and take very few pictures of my daughter. She isn't convinced about me carrying a "large" camera/bag everywhere we go.

Not sure where or how I will develop my photography but it's early days and I still learning.

Part of the problem might be that she doesn't work or have a hobby of her own to provide an outlet beyond family life. I doubt I could convince her to take up photography

P.S. I do love her dearly (just in case anyone started to wonder)

Its only taken 25 years to get her into line & she now suggests that i go out with the camera!!!

I have also noticed that we have a new milkman in the area!!!

If he's taking too long and I want my turn at photos then I get him to hold the dog if we go out taking photos together we rarely stay together as we have completely different styles and methods of photography . Did find out early that sharing kit is not a good idea tho

My wife loses patience quickly, especially when I'm taking long exposures. Actually even I start to lose patience when I'm taking long exposures.

If we're out for a walk together I'll try and not dawdle for too long or just leave the camera at home and go back on my own some time. It's not the most social of hobbies it has to be said.

One thing that is quite handy is that my wife has recently taking an interest in geo-caching a lot of which are in some pretty picturesque spots. If she is looking for one of those, that is more or less carte blanche for me to spend as long as I like farting on with the camera.

My wife objected strongly to my photography, so I had to get rid

Of the wife

I got my lady a compact and she comes with me and snaps away, she loves the adventure :)

I have discovered that my wife makes an excellent Voive Activated Light Stand and so long as its an interesting location she is keen and most helpful. She gets bored in the studio and leaves me to it.

Generally she has the patience of a saint and lets me shoot almost whenever I want but I do have to make sure she gets her share of attention too :)

Me and my lady are also going to go into business together, shes the brains and I am the hands and eyes.

If it is early in the morning, and cold outside, then she is more than happy to let me go out on my own for a few hours, whilst she enjoys a lie in. If it is sunny and warm, then she comes along, and is happy to enjoy the weather, whilst I wander around trying to find good images.

we both enjoy shooting, i have my camera and he has a twelve bore:lol::lol: we just go our seperate ways, never batted an eyelid when i went to Scarborough the other week, with 5 blokes i'd met on an internet forum, and bless he is going to drop me off in leeds for the next leeds meet:):) so i suppose i'm lucky

deffinately lucky :)

i think i just need to meet a single fellow photographer who wont mind going out on shoots

Mine is not into photography. But she always comes with me, and just enjoys being out and about.

I'm club photographer for my local rugby club on Saturdays so my husband is mostly in the pictures himself playing! On Sundays when I do football, he doesn't come with me as he says it's a game for girls and doesn't want to watch it.

Might as well use this thread to do a repeat showing of two of my cartoons.;) :D :naughty:

And if cameras could talk . . .

I'm happily single so I can't really add a lot more else to this thread. :naughty:

My other half tends to not notice I've stopped for a photo till shes 50m down the track, then stops and waits, our gets bored and starts walking again.

Someone mentioned that they put up with going shopping with her if she goes out with him and the camera, I don't find that works because if I'm out with the camera, I stop at the first place, take a few, next place, take a few and so on, then go home..... However if shes shopping.... Go to the first place, get nothing, next place, get nothing and so on.. And on... And on... Then after hours of nothing, all the way back to the first shop and buy something after 2 mins ;)

I'm really lucky, my husband is really supportive - in fact my college course was his idea to give a break from our, between us, 5 children, ranging from 1 to 20.

We like going on "adventures" and have an annual Zoo pass, so we do a fair few weekends away and I am only just beginning so where we go the camera bag goes. Hubby is happy to go anywhere that is different and doesn't mind at all me snapping away - then again I dont mind him owning a Ducati monster and a hyabusa - I think he thinks I really believe he "needs" a spare bike in case 1 breaks down -(we don't seem to need a spare car!).

I can't manage a 1 year old 3 year old camera and lenses but he is good at changing lens, carrying camera bags and watching children - I have some shots of me and our daughter he took at Chester zoo that are fantastic as well I think he could be far better than me if he got interested.

He hates having his photo taken.
