Yes
Right i was toying with the idea of an ipad 2 for general use , BUT will it display my raw files from my 60d ?? i know they do an SD adapter for it BUT will it be very slow ? will i be able to copy / amend any files ? or is this just a waste of time???

Yes, the iPad will display your raw files however it's not much cop for editing shots.

I have set my camera up to produce a raw and a small (fine) jpg. Each time I take a shot the camera will wirelessly transfer a copy of the jpg (about a 5mb file) to the iPad using an sd Eye-Fi card. This takes about 5 seconds a shot. The iPad can then be used to view photos on the fly. You can edit the jpgs but it's not really worth it as I just process the RAWs I want to keep when I'm back home.

The ipads resolution is only 1024x768 so anything other than a small jpg is a waste of time, however I find being able to view shots instantly and being able to pass the iPad around to friends absolutely invaluable. It's so much easier to determine which shots are keepers when youre in the field from the iPads superb display rather than the back of the camera.

Anyway, there's a lot more to the iPad than just messing about with photos. I do not regret buying mine one bit, its totally replaced my laptop.

Top tip..... Don't waste your monryon a 2 buy a used iPad one and save yourself lots of dosh. Simply put the two was not s big upgrade, waste of time for processing pictures though but good in so many other waysa?

but i thought the ipad 2 was that much faster ? do many people on here actually use the ipad ?

It is slightly faster when it comes to CPU processes, but transfering pictures through SD reader is probably the same speed as original iPad. As far as editing RAWs, its ok to view them on the go but nothing more than that. I use it from time to time, especially when i'm out for more then few hours, just to have a quick preview of my shots, at these situations it's pretty handy.

iPad 2 is ace, get Hdmi cable an use it as a live view monitor!

How about an ALBUMteam Album? A lot cheaper than ipads, a more practical size (imo) and more streamlined (ie photos and just photos)

Plus with the ipad I can only imagine how much time would be spent cleaning the screen with my level of OCD, so buttons are a godsend.

I have used the iPad 1 with the camera connector for getting pictures of a Nikon D80, and it does display the raw files. It was reasonably quick. As other have said it isn't really geared up to edit the images but is great for viewing the images. The only issue I can think is you may end up filling it with images very quickly as the raw files aren't exactly small.
