I'm looking for a few suggestions of locations to take some landscape and architecture images in and around Nottingham.

Obviously there is The Peak District for some stunning landscapes (but a bit far for me at the moment) and Nottingham city centre for its diverse architecture but where else have people had success?

University of Nottingham Jubilee Campus has some nice architecture, at least 3 or 4 nice pieces within a short walk.

As for landscapes, you could look at Derbyshire and the Vale of Belvoir.

Landscape wise it's quite frustrating really if you can't travel, as there's so much quite close, but not accessible other than by car. As you've mentioned there's the Peak District, but also the Derbyshire Dales, as Ant mentioned the vale of Belvoir has a few gems and there's also some good locations in the rest of Derbyshire

Maybe a Notts meet could be useful?

Try the pumping station at Papplewick , Clumber park and Woolaton Park.
Just check when Papplewick is open

I have a car and can drive but i'm a bit restricted by how far I can travel at the moment as my wife is due to give birth any day now.

Jubilee campus - are the public allowed on there ok? I've been to Highfields Park at the main campus but wasn't sure about Jubilee.

Good call with the Vale of Belvoir - will have to have a look into that one.

Any more suggestions from anyone?

There's Elvaston "Castle" between Nottingham and Derby which can be quite nice, although not sure what the trees will be like this time of year. The house itself is quite run down, but there are some good views from within the grounds

Wollaton Hall is quite a nice building, and there are deer and quite alot of wildlife in the park if you go for a walk.

Has anyone been to the castle? Ive been considering going there.

Belvoir castle isnt that far away. Just off the A52.
Chilwell wildlife reserve?
Sawley Marina?
Nottingham Station is an amazing piece of building.
Sneinton windmill?
The road from Calverton to Southwell has some pretty good landscape views.
Triumph Road in Notts has an amazing new Uni building, and an old mill/warehouse.

There is the old frontage of the Raleigh factory down there I know that but i've never actually been down that road. Will have to investigate it. It's close to the Jubilee Campus too

Nottingham town centre has some great architecture. The town hall is huge and there's a few buildings around offering big old architecture.

At the minute it is full of the christmas markets so good for candids too. Also long exposures with the rides, etc.

I am going to Nottingham tomorrow so glad I found this thread :) I love history so the architecture sounds good, all good practice. x

Watson Fothergill is a famous Victorian architect. There are a lot of examples of his work in Nottingham. Check out this website for some of his work.

Unfortunately, a lot of Nottingham changed in the 70's / 80's but there are still loads of great examples.

Hope this helps.
