Just watching the news this morning, and it says "DogNapping is on the rise".
What do you call stealing a Cat? It can't be Catnapping, as that is not stealing Cats, that is having a snooze.

As you can probably tell, I have a spare hour or two to kill. :giggle:

Kidnapping isn't necessarily stealing just kids, although I suppose regardless of age, everyone is somebody's kid. ;)

If you have an hour or two to spare, this 4 minutes will help fill some of it.

I saw that, just awful.

I think I read/heard that you can own a dog but not a cat. I'm pretty sure this has been in the media a few times when cat person A tries to call the police on cat person B as they're stolen their cat and the upshot is that cats can decide who they live with as they're like, hey man, a free spirit. Dunno how that stands for very expensive moggies though.

We have had a Cat that came from a few doors away, it came in the house one day and never left. I told the owner who said, "he won't come home anymore, because of the young children at home".

That is him sitting next to me, a quick snap of him just now.

That's the sort of thing that happens. One kept coming into my sisters house, I think he just decided life would be better there. They couldn't leave a door or window open or he'd be in. Eventually his owner collared him and moved away so that solved the problem.

If you have paid for Vet treatment and had your Kitty micro-chipped, then it is very much a crime if the cat is stolen. If the cat wanders away by itself and gets picked up that's different but if taken from your property it's no different than them taking a dog afaik

On dognapping, I've heard recent tales of thieves impersonating RSPCA/SSPCA staff, and trying to take dogs off people walking them, using the excuse that the dog matches the description of one reported stolen.

I am confused.
I thought a "dognap" was a "catnap" which identified as a dog:confused:

No way any anyone would take a dog off me, they would have to kick my head in first. I certainly would not let the RSPCA take a dog off me in the street, or anyone pretending to be the RSPCA. They would have to have the Police there to check things out. Besides, it would not happen to me, as my pets were all tagged and documented. So there is no excuse they could use with me, as our animals are well looked after, and in healthy condition.

A friend of mine who lived in Warrington lost his cat, several weeks past & they had given up hope of finding him. Then all of a sudden he got a call from a vet in Guernsey to ask him if he had lost his cat? To his amazement the cat had found its way into a shipping consignment from a nearby warehouse & ended up in Guernsey and had been identified there from the microchip they had inserted when they got him.

He had to travel down to the south coast to pick the cat up from the port a few days later.

The rspca thing happened down here last week.

We’ve also had a lot of vans with Irish fellas in asking about dogs and scoping out gardens.
We have a rescue kennel down the lane and they’ve had to beef up security substantially because of It.

People also forget that the RSPCA are a charity, they are not the law. To take an animal off you, they would have to get the Police. I don't think they even have the power to take an animal off you.

I certainly would not hand over an animal of mine, to a man/woman in a white van, or any vehicle for that matter.

You may not get the choice, a bloke was walking his dog locally recently and was mugged for his dog. Seems they will go to any lengths to steal dogs. In my area, dog owners are advised to remain vigilant and not to allow their kids to take their dogs for a walk.

I suppose so, but I would not give a pet over even with threats. I would be prepared to put up a good self defence fight. I hope it never comes to it, as I am getting on a bit now, mind is willing, but body is letting me down a little. :)

What I will say about this sad dog napping is if they are going to use force against me or family then look at my cycling gloves before you try your luck. On the good side I have had them checked by police and fine to wear. So for me Force WILL be met with FORCE.
