Hi,

I'm not sure if this is in the right place...but hope it is.

Some may remember the fiasco I had with a D5000 last year - bought it off freeads, paid via bank, and due to the guys gf posting it uninsured etc (so I was told), it never arrived (see the thread). Now, the seller was hard up (apparently) and so far, has only refunded £100. This was paid in in December. Despite many texts and phone calls, he keeps on saying yes he will put it in, as soon as he gets the money. He has maid a few promises regards dates it will be paid in, but it hasn't. In the last week, I have rang and texted (only got 2 mobiles) and they ring out, but never answer, and nether does he respond. I have obviously been too lenient with the guy, as I believe him to be honest. What prompted me to start this was reading Volusions thread regards the iphone, and it appears he is getting somewhere.

Am I at liberty to post the guys name and his (then) address, as he has since moved to London, on the off chance someone will have heard of him. And would I be best contacting the police regards this?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Hi there

How was the camera sent to you? Did the guy provide a tracking number at all? I'm afraid it sounds to me very much like a scam. If you have tried for more than a couple of months with this guy, I would definitely name him or contact the police.

Do you have this guy's address? If you don't get anywhere with the police (probably tell you it's a 'civil' matter - go down the small claims route.

Good Luck!

I spoke with the seller before paying, had a look at some photos of the camera as well. We discussed payment methods, and in the end, I transfered it into his Barclays account. It was agreed that the camera would be posted Special Delivery, however his gf apparently posted it, and she wrongly sent it via standard parcels - not insured, tracked etc. Crazy as it sounds, and I am no expert, but the seller doesn't seem like a scammer. I received the first part refund in December (boiught it in October), but nothing since then, and as I said, in the last week he has not responded to texts/phone calls. I've written his and his gf details below, just in case.

Glenn Woolford Rebecca Singer (advert was placed in her name)
Cambridge

I believe he has now moved to the London area. I don't know his profession, unfortunately. He and his gf are on FB, my friend request is still pending.

Unfortunately, I've edited the full address out of your post. We don't want to be in sticky hot water by publishing people's personal details like that (Yes, I'm about to do the same to the other thread too).

I vaguely remember you posting about this at the time, and tbh I think although he doesn't sound like a repeat / professional scammer, he certainly does sound like he's a chancer.
I'm 95% he sees you as a soft target and is taking you for a ride. I would personally contact the police (they may not be interested but you can try). Failing that, small claims action perhaps?

Or you could actually go round and physically knock on his door...unannounced.

You *did* get all his personal details before putting money in a strangers bank account, didn't you?

There's probably a guy on a caravan forum somewhere posting a similar thread as we type....:naughty:

Well, I got all the details I could - address, etc. But he has since moved, and I don't have that address. I'll give the police a go, I reckon then.

I hope not Graham!
