Hi All, I'm Graham, from Pontypridd, South Wales, been a member for around two years but have never introduced myself. I'm an ex pro photographer (press staff) but now retired due to ill health. Having lived for around 20 years with a camera stuck to my face I don't tend to shoot many pictures these days, it's nice to walk around with nothing in front of you if you know what I mean. I still enjoy photography! I must do I have just purchase a new Nikon D3S and am in the process of building up a few FS lenes, having placed my two D2h bodies and a DX lens on that well know auction site,

Hi Graham, welcome to the forum.

Hope you have fun with your new purchases!

Hi Thanks,

When I get my new lens that I have almost purchased from the classifides I'll be well away.

Bora da Chopchop, Thanks for the welcome. I used to work not to far from Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot Guardians was one of the papers I covered.

The NPT Guardian isn't one of the most exciting papers around, i was always impressed by the photographs though ;):D

Do you have any favourite shots from your time on the paper?

Unfortunatly the NPT Guardian is no more. It closed down about 18 months ago due to falling sales, crap editors, and a lot of competition from the Evening Post. Re: favorite pictures, I used to love the sport side of the job, unfortunatly Media Wales own the copyright on all the pictures taken so I couldn't show any here anyway even if I had some on my pc.

I thought I hadn't seen it for a while- wasn't it a free paper though? Evening post's sales are struggling apparently, a sign of things to come perhaps?

LOL It was a free paper, it went payed for in February 1999, The Evening Post, did everything possiable to try and ruin it even bringing out a free newspaper for NPT themselves. As soon as the Guardian closed they stopped producing their free paper. In fact their free paper looked identicle to the NPT Guardian, which confused a lot of people. I've heared the Post's sales are struggling, but it's the same all over now. Celtic Newspapers, part of Media Wales, who published the NPT Guardian, used to sell well over a 100,000 copies a week 5 years ago from their weekly titles, their sales are barly hitting 50,000, now.

When I joined the company we had 32 photographers, when I left 18 months ago there were 7 left. Sign of the times I think.
