Spoil sport, don't you know anything about electric forum etiquette :P

To be pedantic, they were not electrocuted, as they were not killed.

Can you only be electrocuted when you are killed? I thought you can be electrocuted when you are injured as well.

death surely sounds like an outcome to me!
Exactly, but to electrocute is the act of administering an electric shock, not necessarily that death will follow as most dictionaries not just in English but also in other languages have it defined except for the cambridge online one.

Edit: PS. We can save boring everyone with this conversation as it has already been done to death and wasn't that electrifying to read. http://english.stackexchange.com/qu...-they-have-to-die-or-can-they-just-be-injured :)

I've had a few wee shocks from appliances but the worst was when a youngster in a shared bedroom, lamp was for some reason wired to the ceiling ? anyhow, said wiring was unsheathed in parts and above one of the beds, on getting punky at a tune on said bed and losing balance, I grabbed said wiring....dear knows I must've been lucky and let go immediately, it felt like some big very strong guy had grabbed me and squeezed from behind and all went black for a second....a horrible experience

Hah! getting a shock when I was a youngster fuelled my passion for fixing electronic things :)

Don't urinate on electrical appliances!
Or electric fences, as a mate of mine did, when he nipped behind a tree for a leak.

I felt so sorry for him that I nearly wet myself (laughing) when he yelped like a little puppy :D

Oh it's a real eye opener, along with my near drowning, my inflammation etc...
