A month or so ago someone gave me an entry form for a local photography competition. When I checked it out the final submission closed in two hours. Scoured my prints to find that only two fitted their size criteria so choice made and popped down to drop them off at the butchers - and bought some of their lovely Adnams bacon :)

Had a call today to say that one of my entries has won best landscape. Now, I know the competition probably wasn't fierce (will find out at the prize-giving) but still a nice buzz from the news

Anyone else successful on the small scale.. I'm sure there are lots of you on here.

Congratulations Helen very well done, can we see the picture?

Very nice shot, the grey sky contrasts well with the rust coloured building.

Yeah! You should be pleased with that. I would be, it's ... moody!

Thanks for th comments guys.. was with a friend who came to stay for a photography weekend. We did a reccy of various locations as the weather was awful. At Herringfleet the sun came out for a matter of minutes.. this was the only picture I took over a whole weekend.

There's some real nice contrast there! The reds in the shed and the vanes on the mill really stand out well. I really like the shot.
Isnt it always like that? I dragged my whole kit round on a 10 mile hike and just took 5 shots!

Congratulations! A very dramatic picture.
Just goes to prove that you don't always need a sunny day for a good photo - but the ONLY one you took that day?
Keep shooting in all weathers, you never know what you might capture.

Thanks Brian.. well, not quite the ONLY picture but close. On the coastal locations we didn't even bother to take the camera bags with us but as the mill was a bit of a walk we took them "just in case". We scouted round the location and were about to leave when the sun hit the mill... record set up time and only two or three shots taken before it vanished again. A little artistic licence perhaps? ;)
