That's lovely! I really like the angle you chose to shoot from, and the colour/material of the tablecloth. The bubbles in the tea are a lovely touch.
The lighting is well controlled, though perhaps a little strong - the reflection on the teapot looks burnt out to me.
If you were inclined to reshoot, it might be worth re-arranging the items. I don't know it is would help, but perhaps: ditch the sugar bowl and teaspoon; use the handle of the teapot to lead in from a corner, and the spout to pull us on to a cup, then that handle to lead to the next cup, and in turn that handle to lead us back to the teapot. I'm not sure if that makes any sense.
But, all that said, I really like it. And I don't think it is a shoehorn at all. Teatime is certainly a perfect interpretation of time. The picture also conveys sitting down with someone and spending time with them - not a shoehorn.
