Oh dear you really don't get Northern Soul:)

Dancing has never made sense to me.
It's simply about exercise, showing off and having fun and some people like to make competitions.

They came from all over..... and I can't believe I used to dance like that in the early 70s :)

I'm not sure I get it either, but being a comp final they are going for the fanciest moves ever invented. This lass has loads of videos on youtube but her moves blend with the music rather well...

It's like irish dancing crossed with a drunk walk

I hate Northern Soul and the mugs who like it. Some seem to associate it with Skinheads and there are a few who like it:rolleyes: but it's not proper. Bunch of flouncy weekend warriors.

THIS: (quality of the footage is crap but you get the idea :D). The singer is a mate of mine, his name is Fluff;). Lovely guy.

haha proper skinhead...
Was it ever in doubt, tho I doubt many people would know what a proper Skinhead is, bearing in mind the stereo typing the media has done for nearly 5 decades:rolleyes:

dont mind the norther soul music or the dancing...but i coudnt wear those trousers

Love the skinhead music, from the early stuff to the later stuff, I also don`t dislike northern soul, gets a bit repetitive after a while, but there are some good tracks.

Skinheads are not the only group who got stereotyped,so stop bleating on about it.

Wigan Casino, and that place in Stoke. All nighters then to work. Never managed to understand how we did it. Wigan Casino is now a supermarket type thingy.
Anyone remember Richard Serling?

I don't know where that was filmed but it sure as heck weren't Wigg'n!

The lass will never live this down:

Though most people won`t mind.

There's a plaque on a gatepost in Tunstall where the Golden Torch used to be, it's about 2 miles from where I live.

Northern soul was the hardcore of it's day, there really wasn't anything else around with a reasonably fast beat that you could dance to in clubs (this was many years before disco took off). I'm not keen on it myself but can recognise it must have been a pretty exciting scene for those into it.
