Northern lights are out tonight

Hi, thanks for posting this. Where in the UK are you?

Going up to 7.67 in an hour!
Couds go away please!

Looks like the Yorkshire Dales *might* be clear, now if only it wasn't a 4 hour drive for me :(

Is this today?

Oh b****r

I couldn't be much further south! So wrong direction

Loads of shots appearing from the north coast of Northern Ireland at the minute. Bands of green and red appearing from 6pm and some visible to the naked eye.
I only found out about this after my 3rd beer:(

I only found out about this after my 3rd beer:(

Don't worry after your 12th beer you'll be seeing all sorts of stuff ;)

Will it be there tonight? We are up in Newcastle for a couple of days.

And a lot of luck!

Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd bump this :)

Aurora is kicking off just now, factor Kp6 so should be visible from Newcastle upwards :)

Why is it always overcast in Edinburgh when the KP goes above 5?

The clouds have cleared to the North.
Very visible greeny blue light for the last half hour, just beginning to fade now (10.20)

I'm just back from Portobello beach. First time trying anything like this, and from the camera back looks like I have something to work with tomorrow.

It's increasing just now to 6.7 for the next 1/2 hour or so (23.50)

Never tried to photo the northern lights, but reading tonight maybe as good as last night... Easiest place for me to get to this evening is the East coast, Whitby, Scarborough etc...

What would be the chances for seeing/photographing something from there?

Say Whitby Abbey for instance or Bempton Cliffs?
