Loads of shots appearing from the north coast of Northern Ireland at the minute. Bands of green and red appearing from 6pm and some visible to the naked eye.

You also need to have a negative BZ reading and a strong solar wind to get any good activity really

Aurora is kicking off just now, factor Kp6 so should be visible from Newcastle upwards

Why is it always overcast in Edinburgh when the KP goes above 5?

I'm just back from Portobello beach. First time trying anything like this, and from the camera back looks like I have something to work with tomorrow.

Never tried to photo the northern lights, but reading tonight maybe as good as last night... Easiest place for me to get to this evening is the East coast, Whitby, Scarborough etc...

What would be the chances for seeing/photographing something from there?

Say Whitby Abbey for instance or Bempton Cliffs?
