I fancy a day out tomorrow with the camera, Somewhere i have not been before, but that obviously is where i'm stuck, I dont want to "waste" the day find something that turns out to be crap.

So any recommendations?
I'm from the Widnes/Warrington Area, but can travel almost anywhere in the North west and North Wales region.

So please give me your suggestions?

I dont want to do street, so towns etc are out of the question.
I fancy either a landscape or Wildlife day

Cheers Tp'ers!!!

Gotta be the Lakes, its freezing its nuts off and very clear out there tonight, it will be a Stunning day tomorrow !

Also try Leighton Moss RSPB reserve and head to Arnside for the sunset, just over an hour for you, exit Junc 35 M6 for Leighton Moss and follow the brown signs !

Wildlife, could always try the deer parks in Cheshire...Tatton, Dunham Massey, Lyme?

Or perhaps Llandudno and the Great Orme for landscape?

Leighton Moss is a safe bet though...I think it was dseered who recommended it to me, and I saw my first 2 bittern (at the same time!) :D

Yeah ya git, if in the car, which you wern't its only 3 miles over to Arnside and it has stunning sunsets and a great little cafe, just next to the Albion pub on the corner, sit and wait with a Cappuchino and wait for the perfect moment !

How about the wrecks at Fleetwood, this is the shot I won TP POTY Decay round with, theres about 10 wrecks, clicky Image for thread

Dave

I've done Lyme and Llandudno before, but the lakes sound good.

What is Leighton Moss? A wildlife reserve?

Sorry just re-read you post earlier where it said RSPB
I'm going to google it now

Do you need big lens's for it? I'm at max with a 250mm :( not the best i know for Wildlife lol

I just about managed with 400mm so I'd say yes, but there is plenty of surrounding landscape with Arnside etc as Dseered says! The reedbeds etc can make for nice photographs too if the light is right!

weather looks good for carnforth
Tuesday

Sunrise 08:32 (GMT)
Sunset 15:57 (GMT)
Tuesday's predominant weather is forecast to be sunny intervals.
1°C

Just cold! lol
I guess I'll have to had a drive up and try some landscapes

Always the feeders aswell, 250mm will be plenty just walking around, you can get lucky at the hides aswell without big mils though, just so much going on wherever you walk at Leighton Moss, I love it !

If the day is like I think it might be, I may try and get to Arnside and try my hand at Sunsets !

Very true! If you're planning a big day out then drop in for a couple of hours...never know what you might come across :)

I'm in Leeds tomorrow, pop along :)

Dave

Hi Dave, that's an absolutely wonderful pic - I'd love to know what lens you were using and filters if any?

I'm pretty much a 400D newb so all points of info and inspiration are needed!

TIA :)

Great stuff Dave thanks! I've been umming and ahhing about getting a skylight filter to see if I can improve the landscape shots where there's a proper 'subject', so to speak, and I think you've sold it to me!

For all my meddlings with the CP filter that I've got, I can't seem to find a 'control' that I can improvise on, depending on the shot!

Thanks old bean :)

hi dan

heres another shot from th same day, if Id have used a UV, I wouldnt have got the beams, click for bigger image

Another great shot! God rays always get me.. I saw some wonderful ones in the Lake District many years ago just east of Ambleside.. they were poking through a mist that was rolling over the cliff edges, kind of like a Constable made real; if only I'd had my camera that day :bang:

Yes I have to agree, 2 superb shots.

Well i'm off shortly, If anyone does pop along I'll be the lad with the Lowepro Slingshot and hopefully a bloody warm fleece with my gloves - What a wuss i am!!!

Well happy to report we had a great couple of hours, can't believe it, Gaz's first time and sees the Bittern, however so did I and I had a longer lens ;) will still be a mahooooosive crop though so don't hold out much hope !

Had stuff to do but still came the long way home and got some nice snaps of another ickle birdie !

Today will be Christened Robin Day, never seen so many of the Buggers !

Great to meet Gaz, genuine nice chap, hope you enjoyed your trip fella !

Get yourself into Liverpool.

As per the few posts by some other members, some great shots to be had in this lovely City of ours.
