I keep seeing this recommended on here for landscape photography . Whilst i know the lakes a bit I have no idea where to stay here .
Could I have recommendations for a base etc , thanks.
Looking at going in a fortnights time

I'd pick somewhere about in the middle and (personal preference) not actually on the coast. It's really nice countryside up there but the coastal villages get very busy / traffic clogged this time of year.

Assuming you've got a car the base location isn't an issue. All the nice bits are within about a 15 mile radius.

The seaside town of Hunstanton is pretty good for accomodation then you can travel anywhere from there. When you get back to base and the weather is good I can recommend sunsets and then a beer. I travel to North Norfolk from Northamptonshire fairly frequntly and although I tend to photograph the same places I usually come back with something. My haunts are any of the quays along the coastal road ( A149 ) Wells next to the sea, Holkham Hall, Stiffkey.
Bawsey Ruins near Kings Lynn, the beach at Snettisham RSPB Nature Reserve (free parking) castle Rising, Roydon Common etc etc, well worth a visit.

Hunstanton to Cromer, which covers a lot of the north Norfolk coast is about 35 miles so it is not to far to drive. However, the main road along the coast (A149) is not a fast road and as Steve says it gets busy. I'd suggest somewhere around Wells next the Sea, which is about in the middle. There is lots of potential for sunset and sunrises and if you fancy a good pint and a good meal try the Red Lion at Stiffkey, but at this time of year it gets very busy at times.

Many thanks for all the great replies , I will do some research on what`s been said , thanks again, Pete

It is a bit flat here in Norfolk but there are some nice places to visit and get some photos. Blakeney Quay is nice, Cley Marshes, Holt Country Park, Upper Sheringham Park, Blickling, Holkham and Felbrigg Halls.
There are holiday chalets, caravan parks, hotels and campsites littered along the coast.
Holt is quite a central part of the area as you will be ten minutes from the sea, steam railway and only thirty minutes or so from Norwich and the Norfolk Broads where you can hire a boat for the day from around £50 - £100 or so taking in as much wildlife and as many pubs as you can shake a stick at.

My advice would be to bring your bikes if you have them or hire some as the roads get very slow and you will be able to take advantage of all the great scenery. You can ride/walk the beach and cliff path from beyond Cromer to Weybourne and beyond in the other direction.
Carnival season is just about to get under way as well.

Thanks for those tips of places :), I am thinking of a train ride to Sheringham tomorrow for some shots there and at Beeston Regis / Beeston Bump & then considering a trip with the Bishops Boats to the Seal Island, then finally whole en route back to Norwich, a stop off at Wroxham.

Seal trip is excellent. I can recommend Beans. They used to drop you off at Blakeney Point for an hour as well which is very nice

This is an old thread now being started in July.

Probably no less relevant... Norfolk hasn't changed much in the last fifty years...
