Just a public showing of gratitude to Norfolk Camera Centres.

Recently I purchased a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 from this forum. I tried it at Mallory Park and it struggled to keep track focussing fast moving racing cars. It was fine at slower speeds and static objects. The previous owner used it for football and they move slower than racing cars. Many motorsport photographers use this lens so I know its capable.

I took it to Norfolk Cameras who thought the latest spec focus motor & circuit board would cure the problem and it was entrusted to them.

Unfortunately someone has been inside the lens before and rather than using a threadlock on the screws to prevent them coming undone, they used something like araldite and this had to be dissolved out and rather than a week its been about 6 weeks.

For this work which took a lot longer than expected they only charged £ 40 labour, and the parts were provided free of charge by Sigma.

I have yet to try it out in anger, but thought I ought to mention their good service.

That's sounds like great service, would be nice to know if the lens is ok now. Please update when you have tested it.:)

I agree.
Popped in the store when on holiday last year for few bit 'n' bobs and the guy behind the counter went out his way to be helpful.

I've had very good service from Mark there a few months ago and have no problem at all recommeding them.

I went there on Andrew C's recommendation with the dreaded Canon err99 message. Very helpful and informative, cleaned up the contacts FOC!

I guess in Norwich we're kind of spoiled now that Warehouse Express have their showroom, however, its also nice to have a smaller independent retailer doing well, and who do their repairs on site.
