Greeting from MiddleEngland (Worksop to be pecise),

I have recently bought my 1st DLSR, a Nikon D3200, and Iv found to stock lens, a 18-55mm NON-VR model , to be quite limited and need advice on an upgrade. Now the obvious choice is the 55-200 VR affair.
So further to this I'v come across http://www.mobicity.co.uk/nikon-af-s-dx-vr-55-200mm-f-4-5-6g-if-black.html?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=CI7OxNj2xsYCFaIIwwodr6kGDA# <THIS

Now i now its the last gen model but does the price look TOO good and is it at ris of eing a fake ??

if so any other ideas up to £200 ??

PS I feel i need the VR as my hand aint that steady.

I've seen the odd 70-300mm VR go for around this price used on eBay and forums and is a very good lens indeed. I just sold mine recently for £240 and it was in pretty much mint condition, boxed with all manuals etc.

Just to be clear, are you after a direct replacement for your 18-55? Or something that will zoom in closer to a subject that's further away?

Yes looking for a lil more zoom , and a bit of VR thrown in
In that case if you can stretch to a used 70-300mm VR and don't mind the extra weight (not a heavy lens though) it's a considerably better lens than the 55-200mm

I highly suggest you buy it used for cheap... it is a kit lens that most outgrow rather quickly so there are plenty of them in good condition and not a lot of demand... And you will likely outgrow the lens as well.

Exactly why I suggested the 70-300mm VR, more likely to be a keeper for longer.

IMO, that's very questionable... and when you compare the used prices the difference is much more significant.
Fair enough, but for people who want a standard general telephoto zoom there's not a lot to upgrade to unless you want to start looking at your expensive 'pro' lenses or primes.

well seen as you bought it just give it a really good try if not for you you can always chop it in for a 70-300
or for something a little faster and sharper try the old 300mm f4 af ed i have one and its brilliant imo might struggle to get one under 250 but as everything you get what you pay for
good luck with new glass let us know how you get on as personally never used that lens
