*Noob question* What is this?

I may be about to ask a daft question but, I recieved my new D7200 yesterday and I've found a little black plastic clip in the bottom of the box, it looks as if it should be something to do with the Hot Shoe, given it's shape and size, but it doesn't seem to fit...

I'd wager that it would clip over your viewfinder to prevent light entering the back of the camera if you are taking any long exposures.
You'd perhaps have to slide off the hood around the viewfinder to put this over it.

Slide off the rubber eyepiece and slide this over to avoid any change in exposure from light entering the viewfinder whilst shooting without your eye to it, e.g, using a tripod.
