Anyone successfully bought and used a third party battery for their camera?

For my old 600D, i had some Chinese cheapo jobs that came with a third battery grip I ordered, but they were dreadful.

I then bought some Duracell ones, but I'm pretty sure that they were fake as they didn't last either.

I finally got hold of an Energizer one from a mate of mine who sold his camera and that was good, but I don't know where he bought it.

So, as I've just upgraded to an 80D, I'd like to get another (good) battery.

So, bite the bullet and buy a Canon... or is there an alternative?

I use Ex-Pro in my Nikon (was recommended here) and no had any issues. Bought direct from Ex-Pro website.

You can get Duracell direct from the Duracell website, I have used them and had no problems at all.

I'm going to have to check where I got mine from.

I thought I did buy them from the Duracell Direct site, but maybe I just looked at it and ordered through Amazon from a third party.

I've got a Duracell battery as my spare for my 80D and it's great. Doesn't last quite as long as the genuine Canon one but it is rated lower so that's to be expected. To be honest the battery life on the 80D is amazing, I took over 800 images on mine yesterday and still had three bars remaining on my battery meter. It will get to well over 1,000 shots before needing a battery change if you shoot through the viewfinder and don't chimp too much.

I bought a few of the Dot.Foto ones from Amazon for my 60D/7D and they have been great. Never really compared the number shots vs an original batter but taking into account the price, I'll never but an original one again.

I've used Ex-Pro for all my cameras (Nikon, Olympus, Fuji, and Sony) and never had an issue. I've even recently bought the big Nikon EN-EL18 equivalents for a saving of £130 each

ex-pro and Duracell but I have used cheaper ones with no problems.

I would have thought a majority photographers here use EX-Pro batteries, either black or white, in their cameras.
And probably Eneloop batteries in their flash guns. ( Though some may use the Ikea version of them)

I've got a couple of sets of the eneloop batteries for my flash and make sure I keep them away from my missus and daughter as they would keep trying to nab them for remotes and the like.

Just looked on the Ex-Pro site and the 80D's not listed, But I've read somewhere else that it's the same battery as in other models. So I'll check that out and get ordering.

Thanks for the tips.

I've used Ex-Pro in Fuji cameras and they worked great and on the occasions I used them with my D810.

I tried Duracell in my X-T2 and they didn't work in the camera but were OK in the grip.

The 80D & 7D MK II use the same battery. LP-E6N

I've been using 7dayshop own brand batteries in my canon cameras for years with no problems.

Cheap as chips and possibly last a bit longer than the Canon originals :)
