Anyone know about Nokias and software issues?

I have two Nokias here, and one is about to go out the window! :bang:

no?

...I have a question, but before typing it all out just wanted to check if anyone here knew about Nokias and software......

if you mean it keeps disconecting from your phone and making explorer crash on vista mine does that too.

I had problems with the firmware. The N73 doesn't really like orange answerphone and always says you have messages when you don't. Nokia blame orange and orange blame nokia. Quite funny really :bang:

I chucked my Nokia software out, it was a pain in the arse, it had a stupid player bundled with it that kept making itself the default player after using the software to browse my phone.
I had problems with the cable driver, umpteen extra processes running all the time wanting to connect to remote machines every five minutes.
Complete bag of crap.
My newest Nokia doesn't need software, I'm not sure my old one did, you just load the damn disk like it tells you to.....like an idiot :bonk:
Anyway, I got a bluetooth dongle and connect to my new phone with that, browse with explorer..simple.
I cant stand the utter shid that manufacturers ask you to install for their benefit.

Anyone know about Nokias

Which ones? What O/S?

If its Symbian OS yes...

Thanks for the replies..........

The software I'm on about it the software inside the phone. This is the story......

About 18 months ago, we bought two Nokia 5200 phones (on Orange). More than happy with them, nice little phones.

The one phone has always worked well. The other phone has some issues:

It does not display the incoming number, ever.
It does not give you the option of incoming calls or missed calls logs.
If you miss a call, it tells you you have a missed call, yet you can't see what the number of the missed call is, or how to clear the alert.

There are other fuctions missing in the menu of the one phone, but these are the main ones.

I have swopped the SIMs over, yet the problem stays with the phone. I have updated the firmware on both phones: they are now both v7.0. Still, the problems remain.

I have tried (more than once) a full factory reset: the problem remains.

I have run out of ideas. :help:

should have sent it back to them earlier. is it on contract?

simplest answer is get a new phone

To be fair, its 18 months old, mine don't last 6 months in perfect working order let alone 18.

I'm actually finding it quite difficult to understand why you still have it, it would be fixed in a day or chucked through the window and replaced before bedtime if it was mine.

It wasn't exactly an N97 when new...

OK, thanks.

I was hoping it was something which could have been fixed without chucking it away (such a waste).

Seeing as you have upgraded all the software, there is little else you can really do with tit unfortunately. i would guess there is a defect in the handset somewhere but anything other than a software update i havent a clue where to even look.

phoned nokia to complain? I managed to get T Mobile to cancel my contract as i didnt have a signal in the house, if you complain to Nokia they might sort you out with a new phone?
