Noisless ISO 3200 a reality

OK, so there is a bit of effort inloved,

Just saw this on flickr, very impressive

The image is too small to say if there's noise or not, although I'm assuming the guy isn't telling fibs. My D700 will shoot at ISO 3200 and in the right conditions, pretty much noiseless. Still, useful technique to have although I see no real benefit of using this technique over shooting at a lower ISO with a tripod?

It's usable for both cases, both high ISO and low ISO shots, although if you use longer exposures, it'll probably look good only with still subjects. If they aren't still, you can try using higher ISOs and shorter times get what you need to.

Taking several photos at ISO 3200 is no different to taking one photo with a long shutter speed at ISO 100!

There are no advantages to using the high ISO - i.e. you cannot handhold, moving objects will still blur, and 'halos and flares' from light sources will be exactly the same.

But you do need to faff with photoshop afterwards...

Quite an interesting technique. I wonder if it works as well as he makes out. I'll definitely give it a try.

have to agree with the above posts, the images are too small to make any judgements. it's ashame that this guy doesn't have original images

I tried it this evening combining 15 RAWs shot at ISO 3200 on my D300. It definitely does work - and surprisingly well too! This is quite a neat technique to keep in mind.

I actually thought of this technique the other day but never got around to giving it a go. I guess I should of known someone else would of thought of it already. looking forward to giving it a go.
