I've just been mucking around doing some snowboarding shots of the wife at ISO 6400. as luck would have it, she actually likes one of them and I'd like to reduce the noise a bit.
So, I need to get some noise reduction software and wondered what you folks on here might recommend, or are they all pretty similar and just done to taste?

Nik soft Dfine is by far the best ive used.

The whole Nik Suite is extremely useful for sharpening and noise, Silverfx pro is prob the best b&w conversion software too. Worth getting the suite.

If you're looking for a free solution then I don't think you can go far wrong with Noiseware Community Edition

Although it does have a couple of limitations, it doesn't preserve exif data and you can only save as jpeg.

i use noise ninja with CS4 - works very well.

if you want to send me the one she likes - i can run it though, and then send it back - saves you having to rush picking the software.

I have a theory that certain programs work better with different camera files, I found Noiseware the best with my Nikon files.

Most are available as free trials, the Noiseware Community linked above is an out and out free stand alone (on Windows), and will be fine for what you want.

The Nik stuff is also pretty good.

I posted a comparrison a little while back, might be worth checking it out.

Imagenomic Noiseware is spot on... :)
If you want to post the pic.. I will run it through the filter on default setting for you to see the result..

Noiseware on PS4 is excellent - have noise Ninja too but it's not as good imo. If you need a photo done quickly I can run it through for you and send it back.
