I'm told that Noise Ninja is well worth getting, (I shoot a lot in lowlight/awful light at music gigs and don't have a fast lens), but I have just looked at the website for this software and am confused.

Has anyone used it/ is it as good as they say/ which option should I go for?

I'm seriously useless at computer technology, so all helpful advice very welcome. :D

I have never used Noise Ninja, I personally like Noiseware by Imagenomic.

another vote for noiseware, it can be far more subtle than noiseninja in some areas

I use the Noiseware plugin for photoshop, it's excellent for using selectively.

I have noiseware and grain surgery plugins.

I find grain surgery a lot easier to use.

How much, where from etc.....?

Sounds grand, as I've had a few images rejected from Stock sites for noise problems...

I use Noise Ninja & it is very, very easy to use - you just download profiles for your camera & hit "remove noise"! I tend to do a lot of post processing though & sort out a lot in Photoshop so I may not notice the subtler differences. Give the free trials a go, thats how I found NN.

Hi there,

I have adobe bridge and the noise "reducer" in the RAW editor seems to do little to nothing so IMO avoid that one, CS2 seems to work ok but I find that it tends to make things quite soft.

I've got neat image pro - but I feel it isn't too good - or maybe its the way I use it - I go in via CS2, and then press auto profile and then apply and thats it - it seems to leave some of the noise behind and transfer some into white specs.
That's what I do and it works fine for me

Hi everyone,
I think I'll leave the additional software alone for the time being and concentrate on what I have (CS2). At the moment I select the noise filter, do a "despeckle", then noise reduction set as high as I dare, then sharpen with Smart sharpen. I have been following the advice from Scott Kelby's book (on CS2) and find reasonable results............although I have never printed above A4 size yet.

Many thanks for everyones ideas.
