Some great shots Nod. I really like the second one of the Postbridge, bridge.

Unfortunately, the couple (whose shots I had deliberately stayed well out of) who were also taking pics of it (taking it in turns to stand in the middle then chimping there before reshooting!) then hung around just off the right hand end of the bridge for a while, making it a tighter crop than I would have liked. I have plenty of far better shots taken on sunny Winter days so no real problem!

As a slight aside, on the other side of the road there, there used to be an old petrol pump and the brand advertised on the sign was "Flare". Somewhere in my negative files (or possibly slides), I have a shot of it with the Sun in frame, demonstrating the phenomenon of flare with some (IMO) flair!!!

Lovely set Nod and hard to chose a favourite. I do really like the one you’ve chosen though and your tighter crop of it.

Just one from me this week, covering both the theme and the tech. 100% an inspired grab shot snatched within 30 seconds of the flash of inspiration! I was putting the Leaf through the whirly wash this morning and noticed the dappled light the water splashing on the screen was throwing onto the dashboard. Of course, by the time I'd pulled my mobile out, the spray had moved on but I had just enough time to remember the password and open the camera before the boom swept back along. Even luckier, the pattern on the dash was better than it had been on the first pass!

That's really creative the lighting is really good. Funny how these things can inspire you!

That is a great shot Nod. It took me a moment to wrap my head around what I was seeing. You've done a great job processing it.

:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Sorry for laughing but it's 100% SOOP (straight out of phone)! My only input was to select the smallest size file available when I e-mailed it to myself and that happened to be within the forum's limits when using the Attach files button.

Post. My preference is for the bridge shots. Well done on getting it without grockles.
Water. Well spotted and captured.

It was close between the bridge and the Bantam. Had we been there at a different time of day, the light would have been better for just the clapper bridge; IMO the "modern" road bridge clutters the shot from where I shot them in this instance. With more time and at a less grockley time of year, I have done the bridge much better justice!

Pure luck in the timing (Sun position etc.) for the water one to get the tech in as well as the theme.

Good example of always carrying a camera of some kind.
Imaginative shot that fits the theme.

I was surprised at my own quick thinking, bearing in mind that it was half past seven on a Saturday morning!

'Andles everywhere!!!

and in a block.

Not sure which to go for - IMO, it's between the fork and the knives in the block.

I'm leaning that way too. Shame I didn't have the space to shift it all so the end of the planks were out of shot but apart from that, I think it works well. Only one candle so sidesteps Chris's
(No extra prizes for 4 candles either :D )
!

Fork Handle is pure genius :)

It was a "Nod" to Messrs. Barker and Corbett without going to the four! Typically, a few other ideas have occurred to me but having made my bed, as it were, I must lie in it!

Too funny, and a good shot as well. Love it.

It's funny, our knives are similarly hanging on the wall and I considered them for the theme. I really like your chosen shot. It is inventive.

Lots of ideas for this week but several had already been done so I didn't shoot them.
Here's what I did shoot for the challenge...

First set is from the X-T 2 on a weekend jaunt up to Edinburgh, rescheduled after an airline going bust and a nasty little bug...

A walk up to the top of Calton Hill brought us to a selection of "50mm to dust" aggregate (with a fairly large rock underneath it all!)

DSCF2541.JPG

And a morning wandering around the museum in Edinburgh threw up some dusty crystals

DSCF2542.JPGDSCF2543.JPG

and a very dusty set of aircraft canopies

DSCF2544.JPG

as well as Dolly! Double exposure done in camera (badly!) Next time I try it, I'd use a tripod to avoid the ghosting...

DSCF2545.JPG

Closer to home, I snapped these with the X-30

A couple of LBJ dust bath spots,

DSCF6197.JPGDSCF6199.JPG

the corner of a picture cube that lives on top of a 6'6" book case which has evaded the duster!

DSCF6201.JPG

and the filter from a little dustbuster vacuum cleaner.

My vote would have been the dusty crystals, interesting light and texture. The vacuum filter might have had more depth or character with a different colour backdrop?

A good selection Nod.
The vacuum is associated with dust so bang on theme.

It was a toss up between the filter, one of the crystal shots and the dusty bookcase. I went with the filter because of the almost monochromatic look that the fence backdrop gave it! (No accounting for taste!!!) In a period of wakefulness last night, I thought that the bookcase one was a better choice due to its abstractness but then I drifted off again.

A good selection Nod.

Bang on theme, yes but IMO this week is my weakest set so far.

The Dusty bag fits the theme best, but the crystals are better looking.

The problem with the crystal shots is that they don't look nearly as dusty as they actually are!

Shame my old mate Dusty is no longer with us.

I like your chosen shot Nod but I keep going back to the minimalist image of the picture cube. Something about the simple shapes and colours works for me.

A lower ISO would have helped that one a bit but I deliberately went silly high (12800) to make it more abstract, making it almost too abstract to see that it's dust rather than shadow. Should have taken more time to get the blocked in top left corner better on a third (in retrospect!) too.

Playing comment catch-up.

One Half - I would never have thought of scissors so great lateral thinking. I'm wondering about your crop choice with a lot of empty space above. I think the shape would suit being on a diagonal. It could also be interesting on a reflective surface creating the other half.

Post - I never knew that the GPO used motorbikes in years gone by. I like the isolated D1 the best but all worthy contenders.

Water - I'm sure the TP52 members have a background process running in their heads just for when the inspiration comes!

Handles - It's definitely the Forkandle that's my favourite, I hope the memories of that sketch live on.

Dusty - Many times I've been in Edinburgh, living less than 30 miles from it but I've never been to Calton Hill. I'm sure walking on that surface you were creating dust trails in your wake.

In retrospect, a diagonal would probably have been better for the scissor shot - I think I went horizontal to put them it on the bottom third.

I have a feeling that the GPO used Bantams as telegram bikes but it's still a POST office bike!

Seeing the colour of my walking shoes, I'm sure there was a dust trail behind me! It's worth the walk up Calton Hill for the panoramic views.

Stayed close to home for this one and concentrated on home grown.

The fig(s) are just starting to ripen and next year's "new" strawberry plants are pegged down to replace last year's tired ones.

All looks well tended.

Careful framing and cropping!!! Not enough space to do much in the way of fruit and veg and the birds get pretty much all of the cherries. Bloody squirrel has developed a taste for the figs too - hope they give them the runs!!!

We have a load of tiny figs on our tree this year, it has been 8 years since we have had any big enough to eat ( I think we had 2)
I think the half eaten one is best of the bunch.

Nice shot Nod, I kind of like the first one the best with the patterns from inside of the fig showing.

We preserved some unripe figs in syrup a couple of years ago and they were great on ice cream, yoghurt and the like. Basically THIS RECIPE.

Had the half eaten shot been sharper, it would have been my choice too but by the time I realised it was a bit soft, it was too late and no longer half eaten... IIRC ours is a Brown Turkey and down here (Devon, against a South facing fence) it seem to be hardy enough for some of the slightly larger baby fruits to survive to ripeness. Our problem is that they all seem to ripen at the same time, usually when we're on holiday, although we do get to eat a dozen or so each. Luckily, our holiday coincides with the season on Crete so they're dirt cheap and there are plenty of wild trees giving them away free too!!!
