Clone stamp :)

Nice one for the theme :)

Trying to avoid any PP other than cropping and resizing. Although I did finally ge around to getting my desktop 'puter fixed, it doesn't want me to install PhotoShop Elements so I can't do much PP even if I want to!

Snapseed for PC should keep you going until you find something else.

Sunrise/Sunset - a nice subtle shot
Sport(s) - love this, great idea

I have lost almost as many!!! That's a small selection of the yellow ones, I have literally gallons of assorted colours.

That's a lot of yellow balls! Works well for the theme, although there may be a punishment for letting two little red bits slip through the net for the technique  You get my tick for trying something different :)

Affinity Photo has a half price offer on at the moment. I think it is £25 or thereabouts.

If my error results in a DQ from the tech challenge, so be it! I'll just have to resort to an older idea for it if one of the themes in the next few weeks suits what I have in mind!

I really should stop picking up balls but with some of them costing 2-3 quid each, my stingy self can't help it!

Thanks, Tim. Surprised at the BG looking brown since it's a bright yellow folding crate! Must be a trick of the shadows.

ETA. Just had a quick look at the shot and yes, it's a trick of the shadows - look at the bottom of the frame and you can see the yellow of the box.

As for the red numbers (there are actually 2 red 2s, not just the one!!!), all I can say is mea culpa!!!

Lots of ideas for this but most of them are too far away and although I have shots in assorted folders, I'll stick with what I got this week.

I did consider digging out the D750 and 8mm fisheye but decided to stick to my self imposed restriction to the baby Fuji (although I do like the extreme distortions that the fisheye gives!)

The first 2 are shots that I would have used the fisheye on.

An outdoor table/bench (which has been impregnated with my sun cream/oil!)

and the inside of a colander.

However, since both are ort of second choices, the shot I've decided to use is one of parallel fins on one of my parallel twins. Could almost be used as the tech as well (with a little reframing to exclude the exhaust and plug cap) but Tim was kind enough to overlook the 2 red 2s in last week's submission!

Good images Nod. I am leaning towards the colander shot as the one I would have chosen.

A nice set of images and a good choice of main shot. 1200cc parallel twin must be fun to ride.

It is! It's a Triumph Bonneville Bobber and goes plenty well enough for my wants/needs. Not the most practical of bikes since its luggage capacity is pretty much a disc lock, a chain and padlock and whatever I can cram into my pockets! Range is slightly limited at about 120 miles (ridden fairly gently) but since the seat padding is fairly minimal, it's a good chance to denumb the bum.

It's a pussy cat compared to what it replaced in my stable! The predecessor was a Triumph Rocket III which is a 2.3 litre triple weighing about 330kg... The Bobber is a breeze to push around in comparison and I could pick it up if I ever dropped it. (The newer version of the Rocket has grown to 2.5 litres and lost weight.)

Not quite the same as Edward Turner's original but close enough in character!

Good image Nod. Like Bill I would have gone for the colander, but all are good.

Only one from me this week! As soon as I saw the theme, I had a flash of inspiration to mirror a previous shot.

Metal, he says? BALLS!!!

DSCF5959.JPG

I did reshoot with shinier balls but IMO the reflections distracted from the result.

Loads of them!

During lockdown, I occupied my time with assembling laser cut wooden kits (have a look at Ugear and Rockr on amazon - I've built most of them!!!) including some marble runs which come with 10mm (I think) ball bearings as the marbles.

I like it :D

Is that you reflected in the shot?

As I said in another thread, getting your reflection in the shot used to be a thing didn't it?

On theme and you've handled the reflections well.

I like it :D

Yes, it's me reflected in the balls but, unlike some of the people for whom being caught reflected in kettles etc. in e-bay shots, I was fully clothed!!! Not easy to avoid being in the reflection without faffing with tripods etc. and I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible for the challenge.

Controlling the reflections was the main reason for using unpolished (read dirty!) balls and I moved around to get a balance of sky, tree and walls in the balls as well as a lump of me!

TBH, I was a little stumped by this one. First thoughts were a pile of coins but I don't have enough sovereigns here to make a decent pile. 50ps were the next idea but which ones to use? And they're not that treasured! Then I remembered an old earring charm I used to wear before I went down the stretch route - a tiny silver treasure chest! Once that was found (took as long as the set up and shoot, although sorting the different coloured beads after the shoot took a while...), the sheet of yellow paper was pressed into service on a West facing windowsill and the trusty X-30 made its way upstairs.

To start, I tried just the natural light and was happy enough with the results...

DSCF5969.JPGDSCF5970.JPG

...but wanted to try a bit of extra light to get a bit more sparkle from the beads so dug out a couple of torches.

DSCF5972.JPGDSCF5973.JPG

Which added nothing to the shot other than ugly shadows, so I shot another with slightly different natural light (it started raining so the light was a bit cooler!)

DSCF5975.JPG

After sorting the 5 different sorts of beads (yawn!!!). I looked out to see if the rain had stopped and spotted the first Passion Flower of the year (on a plant I grew from seed many years ago.) and which was the subject (well, one of its predecessors was!) of my first ever digital photograph.

DSCF5978.JPG

In an ideal world, I would have shifted the leaf at the top so it wasn't blocking part of the flower but it's 10' off the ground and not easy to get at, even with a ladder, so it stays!

Good set Nod. I like your chosen one.
Personally I would have upped the exposure a little, but that might just be the way it shows on my screen.

Nice Passion Flower, but your chosen bead shot is the best of the bunch.

Pete

Nod.

I actually quite like that first heavy shadows shot above, No.3, it's certainly different and I think interesting and attractive. I'd agree Peter and up the exposure a bit though.

I like them all but I keep going back to that heavy shadow picture. I think it'd be worth trying something else with that effect, I think it has some potential for an interesting picture :D

Using one torch would have been a better choice than 2 but didn't add enough "glint" to the beads. Only being able to get at half the scene didn't help - it was set up on a windowsill!

Great commentary Nod, makes the shot more impactful. I'm wondering though if your white balance is a little off given that you said it was a yellow piece of paper and it looks grey to me. Then again it could be the colour balance on my computer that's off...

Ten out of 10 for perseverance... I rather the the first shot but can understand why you persisted.

Auto WB so the general yellowness of the shot may well have confused the camera (but a couple of the other shots show the paper as more yellow...)

Helen, I was just faffing around trying a few different ideas.

I like your chosen one best although it does look a little dark for me also.

Shame about the leaf on the passion flower, but it's not worth risking falling off a ladder for! They are beautiful flowers.

Just 2 this week - been a bit busy getting sorted for tomorrow's holiday.

Solid just screamed "Lateral thinking" to me (as have a few of the other themes!) so a polygonal chunk of ice was dug out of the freezer and placed on the trusty A4 sheet of yellow paper on the West facing windowsill. Couldn't decide on it filling the frame or sitting on a third but decided on the thirdy one as my final choice even though the in camera resizing has shifted it a fraction. Paper has stayed dry!
