Wow that Titanic is tiny!

I think you chose the right shot for light, though it had me confused - I'd not seen an electric lighter like that ha ha! Clever composition.

I did consider using a car cigarette lighter but soon realised that none of our cars has one!

Heavy - I also prefer the first Titanic image
Light - the dawn light works best for me.

All good images though

A frequent Monday trip sees us heading down to Dawlish Warren for lunch and since there was no rain and the tide was falling, we took advantage and went today. Blowy but dry, if a bit chilly round the ear lobes! The falling tide gave me a few options.

Firstly, the wind had blown a lot of spume up the beach and there was a collection at the top of one of the groynes. Not sure if it really counts as damp but it could be shoehorned if necessary!

A little further along, I looked back at the long, damp stretch of sand which requires no shoehorn...

And a bit further on still, there was a bit right at the top of the tideline that juxtaposed damp and dry sand.

On the way back, I spotted some odd sand formations that reminded me of Antelope Canyon in miniature. From the height of the "stacks", they must have been damp inside!

DSCF5729.JPG

Torn slightly between the last 2 and decided to use the last one because it's (IMO!) more interesting.

Another possibility was a shot of a damp personkini on the patio but I shot myself in the foot for that idea - I have sworn not to post any shots of it! I should have worded it better and sworn not to post any selfies of me in it!!!

I like the last one, very interesting shapes - isn't nature great!?

Yep - mini canyon is great!

Last one is an interesting shot but for me the 3rd (next to last) is an ideal example of damp.

She was a bit bleedin' chilly across the water this morning!!!

Lovely image Nod, wind and chaos can make wonderful sculptures.

That is a lovely mini sculpture, and I agree a more interesting image, although the one above it screams 'damp' a little more, but they both tick the box.

Some damp sand shots, your chosen one is a nice surprise find I would imagine.

They were. Didn't spot them on the way East along the beach but I was looking for somewhere for a "comfort break" on the way back and spotted them tucked under the cutaway.

Bepop, I agree that the fingers of damp sand show damp better but I like the stacks one more and they fit the brief too!

The stacks are definitely the most interesting to look at, clever how the wind creates such patterns.

I agree with your chosen shot.. it looks like it could be shot in a desert somewhere!

If you haven't seen it, do a picture search for "antelope canyon" for what inspired my shot.

Really interesting shapes. Agree with some of the other comments that a couple of the other shots work better with the damp theme, but you’re right in that they’d have to have been damp to shape like this! Great spot!

A really interesting formation for your chosen image, although I do like the difference in the sand for image 3 too.

Glad you explained the basis of your image. Had me wondering tbh, but it meets the theme.

Not feeling too good for the past few days so not been out, although I did go down to Mrs Nod's studio to grab a couple of shots of the Magnolia grandiflora the other side of the road. Not 100% happy with them but I was supposed to be doing other stuff too!
Then wondered about shadows thrown onto the vertical blinds, followed by the spectrum cast on the bedroom wall by a crystal hanging in the window. Not sure how well they fit the brief though since they're cast through the window rather than being seen through one...
Final option is the Thuja tree in the back garden, with the Moon in the background.DSCF5741.JPGDSCF5742.JPGDSCF5743.JPGDSCF5744.JPGDSCF5745.JPG

Even though I'm not 100% happy with it, I think the first Magnolia shot is the best of a mediocre bunch. Very restricted to which pane to shoot through - it's a Georgian building and only 2 panes are modern float glass - the others are all pretty wavy and distorting!

It’s a lovely tree, fits the theme just fine.
I like your moon shot as well.
Hope you soon recover.

Nice set - no2 for for the added pooch :)

I agree, Helen. However, although it fits "Thro' a window", it misses on the "Seen"!

Another vote for No 3 here, although the tree is very impressive in its own right.
Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Hmm I rather like No. 3 as it gets you thinking. The magnolia does look glorious in 1 and 2.

Hope you're back to good health soon.

As I said in post #145, I prefer the vertical blind one but it doesn't properly fit the brief and I'm saving up shoehorns for later!!!

Your shot certainly fits the bill Nod. I think the third shot could be a cool one if you cropped it just to the middle panel.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Only 2 choices for me this week! Both fill "Technology" but one also covers the tech of "Reflections" so, guess which one I'm using!

The cliff defences to the East of Lyme Regis in West Dorset are full of technology, even if they just look like a sea wall.

DSCF5751.JPG

and the modern LED lights in the path lights along part of the promenade show that technology isn't infallible (not sure why they were on at lunchtime on a sunny day!) The LEDs were reflecting internally in the cover as a bonus!

Well spotted and adds some interest.
Fits the theme that's for sure.

AFAIK, the lamp posts etc. are the same age as the LED system, just retro styled.

I now have my desktop 'puter back but haven't plucked up the patience to reinstall PSE yet. It took me a while to find which e-mail address I'd used to register it and I can't find my password... I have a vague idea as to what it might be but a nagging fear that there are substitutions of numbers for letters in part of it as well as an upper case letter or 2.

Having said that, I'm rather enjoying the extra challenge of using a compact and only doing cropping and resizing rather than having all the options that PSE offers!

Nice images Nod, and the LED light in the old fashioned lamp is a great spot!
